Destiny killed CoD.
Or...any other FPS for that matter. It's my opinion (understand this) and title says it all. All I see on here is so and so game is going to kill Destiny. However, so far year one Destiny has been my #1 game and so much fun has and spoiled my previous love for CoD and other FPS games. Can't see myself going backwards to CoD. RIP CoD! You were great while you lasted but there's a new champ in town. Who's with me?
Edit 1: only posting this because of the hype surrounding Bo3, which I've preordered to play the beta next week. After watching the stream I'm not excited to play but might because of friends playing.
Edit 2: Apparently cod killed it's self, which I completely agree with. Although, we got to give Destiny credit for raising the bar for FPS by taking it to the next level on some space age sh*t.
Edit 3: to everyone saying CoD killed themselves, consider this. A ton of people still love the series for whatever reasons and if battlefield and Destiny hadn't come along CoD would be extremely more popular and probably still be the top dog fps. Food for thought, you do the dishes.
Edit 4: for all the diehard CoD fans that play Destiny tell me you would rather play another boring and tired CoD game than lets say a Destiny 2? Doubt it

I agree with you. I loved Call of Duty Ghosts but after Destiny came out I'm done with Call of Duty.

2 RepliesDestiny wins for its cooperative gameplay. Battlefield 4 wins for multiplayer gameplay. Fallout 4 [b]will[/b] win for solo gameplay. IMO.

After watching footage of the Black ops 3 multiplayer, I know where my PvP times being dedicated. CoD multiplayer feels more balanced to me. Hell, I'm playing Battlefield Hard-line at the moment because it feels more balanced. IDC that I die more than I kill, it feels much more balanced than destiny. After the update I'll take my silimars wrath for a try in the crucible, but if shit still feels unbalanced, then I'll leave destiny for battlefield until I can get black ops 3.

Maybe so, as PvE is pretty fun when you're not running the same thing for the 10th time. That said, the PvP is one of the worst out there. Maybe as bad as GoW.

I can't really see myself going backwards to the crucible. I need Black Ops 3 or Star Wars to release for some real Pvp action! I'll hop over to Destiny for some TTK Pve action however!

2 RepliesBattlefield 4 is probably my favorite realistic shooter. It's completely unbeatable in its category. Destiny is great, but Halo is still my favorite for a fantasy shooter. Even so, I do wish that spartans could have the agility that the guardians have. That's just my opinion on the matter though, don't mind me. [i]*sips tea nonchalantly*[/i]

If any game has the ability to effectively kill Destiny it will most likely be Star Wars: Battlefront. That being said, Destiny is by far one of the most well programmed games on the market at the moment. It will be an enormous feat to overcome Destiny. I don't believe that can occur.

Treyarch releasing [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url] zombies was one of the best things that ever happened to CoD and its a co-op "pve" gametype. I missed prestiging sooo many times because of this. I love Destiny but before Destiny i loved CoD. I hated AW but really had fun with the Blops3 beta.

CoD was going as well as Sonic was, selling the same game with only a cosmetic tweak or a few additional items while maintaining routine gameplay each and every year. CoD learned from their mistakes and tried something entirely new and was able to make a better game for the CoD series because of it. We know which games will be starting CoD's rise back to the top.

Black ops 3 will sell more than destiny. In 6 months black ops 3 will have more players than destiny. Its a massive franchise probably the biggest in gaming

3 RepliesDestiny was fun for a time when it was new. Short after the game went downhill rather than up. The story was fun at first but soon got bland and repetitive. I have had fun with bf4 and the black ops beta was cool to. Just my opinion.

4 RepliesWhile destiny has decent mechanics, it's lack of story, content, and variability means it will never topple CoD as a lead in the FPS genre. The larger fanbase and (yearly) redesigned games, combined with (regular, unlike destiny) DLC means that bungles game just can't compete. I'm not saying CoD stories have much to offer, but they don't try to sell their games off as MMORPGs. CoD games capture a high-speed, riveting arcade style of play. Is it realistic? No. But it's not meant to be. And with the new addition of parkour mechanics to BO3, I'm fairly certain its sales with blow destiny out of the water. I liked destiny, but got bored with its sheer lack of new and exciting things to do. I've had (at some point) every exotic weapon in the game. There was nothing left. So I liked it, but haven't played in months.

1 ReplyI was really hoping for a return to COD this fall, but after learning it would be jet packs and wall running and supers, .... Well, I guess they saved me $60. I'll stick to my Titan, thanks. Maybe not in a more general sense, bit for me - like the OP- Destiny was the "next big thing" that finally killed COD. The only question left now is can Destiny hold up after SWBattlefront shows up? We'll see.
