Skolas is still alive in the VoG. (speculation)

okay lets start this off by saying that Skolas is actually very intelligent and his plan is not yet finished. even though we kill skolas in the prison, he might still be alive. how? easy. Vex tech. lets go back to the mission where you go in the vault of glass after Skolas. You can actually hear skolas screaming that all houses will bow to the wolves in the mission, so its safe to say that he was actually present during that mission. even though we go after him, he was nowhere to be found. isnt that... odd? no, this was part of his plan. Skolas didnt only want to use the oracles, he wanted the power of time. he went deeper into the vault and stole that power. and wouldnt it be easy?, we went in there and Killed Atheon. theres nothing stopping him from breaking into the vault, even the gatekeeper did no appear because we killed it too. so lets go forward in the HoW story to the terminus. or first, the juncture. has anyone thought really deeply about these names. the juncture is a place where things join. specifically, time. then you get to the Terminus, which is literally defined as a final point in space or time; an end or extremity. now while here, Petra says something about the machines at the terminus fading in and out of our timeline and the vex signature matched the one found in the vault of glass. what signature could she be talking about? that signature is Skolas. after going deep into the vault and most likely standing where Atheon stood, Skolas stole the secrets of freedom, time and space. i know this because during the mission Variks translates exactly those words. skolas has learned the secrets of freedom, time and space. notice also how skolas doesnt come out of a vex gate or materialise infront of you when you fight him, he literally teleports there the same way the vex do. the black smoke surrounds an area and skolas just appears exactly how the Vex do. this means that he has already tapped into the vex teleporting tech and who would stop him? no one, Atheon, times conflux is not there to defend the Vex networks anymore. just because we killed him in the prison doesnt mean hes dead, he could still be alive, or even a past or future version of him is alive. how could you kill someone who has tapped into space and time? also he said he stole the gift of freedom. but free from what? hes free the same way Athon was free. the vex in the VoG were free from the rest of the Vex minds control, they had complete control in the VoG. And now skolas is free. meaning that he can tap into the Vaults networks without having to worry about gatelords controlling his movements through time and space. hes free to do and to go whre he wishes to go. not only him, but his future self too. itdoesnt sound too farfetched to say that Skolas let Skolas into Atheons chambers. think about it, if present skolas went into the vault, made his way down to the vault who would open the door for him? no one else besides future Skolas, who had already been inside the vault of glass waiting for Present skolas to arrive. only to let future skolas go through time and purposely get captured. that leaves the present skolas to do as he wishes within the vault without the queen on his trail. skolas might still be breathing. but only Time will tell. edit: if you have anything you want to add, be sure to leave your 2cents down in the comments.

  • "Alright everyone, good job on gatekeepers, get ready for atheon" *skolas appears instead, blasting his scorch cannon* "YO WHAT THE, SHOOT HIM!" *distant voice is heard* "dismantle mines, yes?* There is one mine in Venus. One in Mars, and one in the middle platform. Level 35 mobs everywhere. People are screaming. The vault is on fire. "You disappoint me guardian"

      • I mean... Even if this IS true, are you telling me that sad old skolas finishes his timeline imprisoned being continually killed by weak sauce level 32-34 guardians? If that's the case I really don't think we have much to worry about if we're fighting him down the line earlier in his timeline. Level 50 guardians proceed to hop into vex gates and spot skolas, "oh look lets farm this ugly horned oversized major"

      • Very interesting but you can't have two different versions of you unless you cross over to an alternative reality and these realities are not confirmed to be real. We also know that skolas blew a hole in the vaults doors and broke in that way and we stopped him from controlling the Oracles powers. Another thing to add is we captured him and killed him so he is dead because their are no parallel universes and even if their were he could not cross over. So your idea is amazing and really well thought out its just that science and logic poke holes in it.

I didn't really read your post, only because there is a grimoire card somewhere that I've sent that talks about how one of the nine, as in the group the xur is part of, goes in to skolas cell and sets him free. Edit: I've been informed that it didn't read to closely and this happened before our encounter with him. My bad.

              • The reason the vault is replay able is because atheon is time itself... When we kill him the time resets to replay it. Atheon has to be there in the vault

                  • I'm here wondering about those Fallen he sent back in time. What if Skolas actually sent one of his ancestors back in time like John Connor sent back his father? What if Skolas sent back a fallen that would eventually become The kell of the house of kings? What if one of those fallen a were that of the house of Rain? Did Skolas just caused a Paradox?

                      • The Vex signature that matches something in the Vault is the platforms, that's it. As for Skolas speaking in a mission, that doesn't mean that he's there, just that there's dialog. Take off the tin foil hat, it isn't good for your hair.

I think the Terminus is just high up. Not in any special dimension or anything. Why? Because they were able to fly up there to capture him without going through the juncture. Also, the Vex signatures referred to all the enemies in the Terminus. They all teleport in like Vex. What I think is that Skolas is Atheon or Vex creator. Why? Because I can. Boom here it is. Know how the Vex can create simulations in their mind? Everything you have done (story and PoE) since the Templar's Well mission in HoW has been a simulation. When the Vex see that Skolas can use their tech but you'd end up killing him, they see an opportunity. The Gorgons remove him from time so that outside the simulation he's believed to be dead (NOT removed from all existence). He is sent into the future and communicates with remaining Fallen. They "evolve" their servitor tech into the vex. He returns to the vault to try to ensure guardians don't stop him in the past. He knows that in flesh form he is weak. He returns as Atheon. Make sense? Hardly.
