Matchmaking for at least Nightfalls- Is it time?
So after a lengthy break I am re-rolling tonight and coming back with a view to blow through the 2 expansions I have missed and get ready for TTK.
A lot of the reason I left (apart from the God awful story...but lets not get into that), was how hard (for me any ways) it was to get into raids and high level content. I know there are 3rd party sites like DestinyLFG g etc, but I always found this very cumbersome. I also thought that going to these 3rd party sites was in essence the same thing that matchmaking would inevitably do? As to be honest (again in my case), I never really formed any long lasting friendships from it-people just tended to go their seperate ways after it. I do see that they have matchmaking for heroics now at least.
I have also read that a lot of people have not even touched high level content because of lack of matchmaking. I just think now it might be time to look at this as there is now so much content being added on and as a result that is more content that people are missing out on.

Don't wait for someone to do it for you. From that and finding a few good souls on these forums, I've played all the end game content except for skolas, which I hope to do next week.

No too many scrubs in the heroic don't give a shit and don't even use the correct burn weapons making the strike take twice as long.

1 ReplyPeople play raids and nightfalls strategically. If you're playing with new people you want to be able to explain that strategy. Not everyone has a mic, or choose to plug it in. Then there's the elitists who want people to use specific guns at certain points. Some also like to have a team of specific characters (Ie 1 titan 2 locks, whatever). Point being you want to create a team. Not randomly have them thrown at you. Tl;dr Too many variable and strategies to have matchmaking. It would be pointless and there'd be a lot of people just leaving the match.

2 RepliesMatchmaking helps everyone out. If you have a team of 6 for a raid, 3 for ToO, 3 for nightfall, 3 Weekly heroic then matchmaking plays no part in you doing these events. If you're one short and don't want to troll the LFG's (which believe it or not are randoms as well) then matchmaking can round out your team. Even if they do little work, they are at least a distraction to the adds so you can take them out. It can also help if for some reason someone drops out, then it can pull someone in for you.

Optional yes. Forced no. I'm all for optional cause if I don't wanna do the work then the game could find someone, if I'm with a group of friends and we are doing Crota raid, we 3-4 man it and don't want randoms messing with our flow. Same for nightfalls as I usually have 1 friend to do it on Tuesday and we have our own system when doing them. I also don't want forced matchmaking cause then you gotta deal with trolls, no mics, etc.

I'm all for OPTIONAL matchmaking if you are unable do it by yourself, but as I enjoy doing PvE content solo or just with my GF I am steadfastly against forced matchmaking. There's not really anything challenging left in PvE anyway.

I personally think it's harder to win with randoms in a Crucible game against a clan than it is to win against Crota with randoms... But PVP gets matchmaking for all but ToO (I don't play PVP so if I'm wrong about that don't flame me.. Or do I don't care). When I use the app I join anyone that's willing at [b]RANDOM[/b] and 70% of the time I teach them how the mecanics work and we succeed so long as people are listening. I don't have requirements to what a player needs to have like Gally or Black Hammer, or what ever only that they have a mic or at the very least they message you saying they don't have a mic but that they are listening. Bungie has said before that only about 19% of people have raided... Why do you think that is? For the people that say that RAID shouldn't have matchmaking, you're wrong. What you mean is, you should have the option to form your own Fireteam if you want. Because yes, I also will not play with a group of people that will not listen or are not invested in the activity. And it should have maybe a Vote to kick or make the person with the best connection party leader. I know my opinion a not necessarily yours so don't respond to this butthurt. Yes when I'm looking for groups I will add that I have a Max Gally but that's only because not everyone is like me and it's easier to get invites if you have it. Yes I think that's wrong.

Destiny is a social game. The social aspect is a core challenge as is the game mechanics. You need to engage in the challenge.

Advantage using lfg/forum to find players is you can scout their stats before you send message and see if they can hold their weight. I'm sure with matchmaking you will come across trolls... And you just don't have a choice but to back out and search again if you don't like who you are matched with.

6 RepliesI voted no. I'm still upset I can't solo weekly now unless I change setting on PS3. I honestly would rather try and solo nightfall than get stuck with scrubs who use the last word and hawkmoon during nightfall. Or that guy that goes afk for several minutes at a time. If they implemented a vote to kick this forum would be flooded with cry babies saying " I got kicked from nightfall. " the only people who want matchmaking are people who can't find friends. Join a clan, make friends, enjoy high end content,

I feel for raids etc straight up matchmaking wouldn't work. I think it would need more options than just 'find fire team' also it should be optional for people who don't want to use the matchmaking
