Im Done.....
When Iron banner comes about, i like to enjoy ranking up my level and being rewarded with some sweet looking loot and weapons. As a day one player, I know that having everything is a necessity in this game (for me anyway) and i (used) to love ranking up my Iron Banner, but now, its changed
I've found myself becoming increasingly angry at destiny and its crucible system. I feel that playing Iron Banner is a drag and a chore now that certain things are unbalanced.
One of these things is blink. Yes i understand that blink is a class perk in the game and can be used, but when combined with a shotgun in the Iron Banner, i find this impossible to combat with the likes of anything. This also doesnt help with the overpowered shotgun perks which are available for your shotguns. More and more blinks and shotguns are being spotted in the crucible games, and im just about tired of it.
Another one everyone has had a problem with is Thorn. Again this weapon is a fine weapon and is allowed to be used, but even with the upcoming nerfs, i keep thinking that thorn is still going to be unfair, the linger damage is too long, and the availability of body shot spam is at a peak during iron banner. Again, this type of combat is very hard to compete with (especially to a day one player like me who believes thorn is a cop out and does not use it out of choice).
Also, the connection on the destiny servers seem to become worse than they already are when iron banner is about. Nobody like coming up against a laggy hunter, titan, or warlock who can take multiple strikes from a bladedancer or survive a nova bomb.
All of these things have just made the crucible and iron banner experience almost unplayable and not fun to compete in whatsoever. And I know what your all going to say, 'bungie are fixing this soon!' but why do we have to wait? bungie know that there experience is out of balance, so is it bungie being lazy and not fixing it, or just genuinely trying to fix the system. As a hardcore crucible player and overall destiny player, I will not be buying taken king due to the increase in lack of things to do and weapon balancing being simple wrong

6 RepliesI believe that the blink shotgun issue is only the symptom of the real issue: LAG. I can counter blink shotgun fairly well. But when someone is lagging what you are seeing and what they are doing are off by a few milliseconds. And when your off by a few milliseconds with a teleport? I and a friend both played each other in crucible and recorded it. He blink shotgunned me but on my screen he was still in teleport . . . I was like, WTF? later i watched his video and in his video he had already come out of teleport and was practically on my head. Because the teleport for blink is so fast, it give that player the advantage if there is any lag in the lobby. This is the problem. It is the lag, not the guns or perks. . . The same goes for Thorn and TLW. Those two guns have counters, but if Thorn can potentially kill with 2 headshots in 0.36 seconds, then even if you are also using Thorn, but the lobby is lagging just a few fractions of a second, you are still dead by no fault of your own. I can't tell you how many times it has appeared that I died instantly to TLW or Thorn as I came out of a doorway. The reason I died was not because the gun was too good, but because the other player was shooting me and could see me before my console caught up.

1 ReplyI for one would like to congratulate bungie for creating by far the worst competitive multiplayer first person shooter I've ever had the displeasure of playing, and trust me I've played a lot of them. I'm 33 years old and this is by far the most unbalanced first person shooter I've ever played and I find it ridiculous that they keep trying to ram it down our throat. This expansion was an absolute joke for the players that actually prefer the PvE in this game.

Bump Totally agree, thorn is a conondrom really as you bust your ass 2 get it so you want to use it but at the same time you know your getting cheap kills, I am actually a pretty bad pvp player and even I feel dirty getting thorn kills, what I normally do now is start a match with it and if I am not constantly getting thorned I switch to tlw or rd, sometimes hm but since it is so similar to thorn that it is hard to justify using it since I always lose gunfights to thorn with its dot. But I gotta admit what is worse is the shotgun spam, so much now I see people just running around using it exclusively, I actually use a shotgun too but I use my primary until close range fights, the worse people slide shotgun then find a corner near a control point or spawn and just camp, that is just sad.

[i]...im not saying you are[/i] But others like to: OMG Lag, OMG Guns, OMG Nerf, OMG Overpowered...when in reality theyre just terrible at the game and want Bungie to cater to their every waking need. Yes, there are flaws in the game, why bungie has somewhat neglected its audience is beyond me, but that does not change the fact that it still requires thumbs. Way too many people complain about everything other than the fact that they just arent good at the game.

1 ReplyI find that mindfulness of your surroundings severely limits your opponents advantages. Thorn can be bested by several great guns, and shotguns are only useful in close quarters.

Problem is, EVERY game I play in IB EVERY player uses either Thorn or The Last Word and a shotgun. It's hard for me to compete using a Pulse Rifle and a Sniper, so I pretty much [i]have[/i] to use a shotgun. It's actually funny how much I destroy most of the players I come against even though I have vastly inferior gear. Everytime I outgun Thorn/TLW I just imagine to myself how screwed these guys would be if they didn't have these crutches. They seriously need to look at a way to reduce the effectiveness of blink too. I've had situations where a guy catches me by surprise and puts me absolute with his primary, yet I just spin around, blink and shotgun him. It feels really cheap because those are situations I simply shouldn't win.

I believe why people use those guns is because they know other people are gonna use them, i don't play ToO or IB anymore, i don't like using these weapons, it makes the game stale.

7 RepliesI just go for the 3 easy bounties capture zones, heavy weapon kills, 10k xp even if you lose a lot when you win and cash in tokens you can easily make it to rank 5 but if its a shotgun/thorn heavy team just sit in a corner kill someone once in a while and collect free IB token/loot chance.

6 RepliesI personally hate how I'm forced to use Thorn in iron banner. When I want to use my Red Death, but I'm constantly losing firefights due to the fact Thorn and last word are broken AF. I guess it hurts to be different.

Every time I try to use my bow, my first kill (not even a kill more like my first attempt) I die to thorn. Middle of game servers will lag out too. I went on a 15 kill streak yesterday, felwinter's sniper ended me. I got killed today by a sniper and at first it said felwinter's lie (not even kidding) then when it loaded said No Land Beyond like really.

Yup just you. Lol, no I'm terrible but I have experienced lag a total of one time, then I learned it was like this setting ppl are messing with on the PS4 or PS3 but its on PSN only. So we might be able to figure out the level of lag if we all mention what we play on? I'm on 360 for example
