Bungie Will Never address Lag.
9/10 posts on this forum are about lag, trials cheaters etc. and yet Bungie would rather talk about why you should preorder so they can show investors how much money they're going to make in September.
Saying that online mp sucks would turn off investors.
Took them 4 months to admit that thorn was op. I don't think they'll say anything till December about lag.
I wish they would do what dice does with BF4 and have a playlist where they test out netcode issues and patches to weapons. Cause right now it's a few sandbox designers changing everything every 6 months.

13 RepliesFixing and upgrading server and netcode technology is so insanely time consuming and fragile that even the slightest error or oversight could -blam!- the servers up. I'm absolutely sure they're trying to figure something out, but its not like flipping a lightswitch, they can't just turn off lag and turn on better servers, shit takes A LOT of time, especially for a game like Destiny

1 ReplyMainly because they are saving money by letting the clients be host themselves instead of providing dedicated servers. As long as one of the clients in the game is hosting it, it will be vulnerable for manipulation and lag. Thats nothing something technical that can be fixed, its something financial. There is no excuse for slow weapon balances tho.

Fixing lag will mean changing matchmaking based on location which will result in a longer time to find a match. They will also have to deal with people with terrible connections.

What do you expect from a bunch of scammers that create a social game full of lies and then don't even have servers b/c it costs them more money. Once they have your money, who cares about your connection.

What their servers really need is active host switching like cod. When the current hosts connection is ruining the lobby, have it pause and switch hosts.

It would be nice. If the issues were gone it would be easier to sort out cheating from the day to day crap of half the matches. I have had to come up with a set of qualities in a match before I report someone as it is hard to tell the lag from the lag these days.
