The Executioner of Oryx: Prologue (Destiny Fan Fiction)

The cracked, and fissured surface of Luna was now clearly visible through the Ships exterior surface scanner. The distress beacon became an apparent flashing dot on the Radar as we approached the Outer Biosphere of the Moon. "We're approaching Mare Undarum" I spoke sternly to my Ghost. "The Beacon appears to have been activated a mere hour ago, 200 Kilometers North of Mare Spumans. Ikora was right- it's a Guardian." I looked to my right, as my Ghost shifted the individual members of its shell in a clockwise rotation, focusing his pale blue eye on the blurred screen of the Ships airspace scanner. "So strange that a Guardian would venture so far out into the Exclusion Zone of Mare Undarum without the approval of the Vanguard, let alone a Fireteam..." The Ghost spoke in an uneasy, apprehensive tone. The familiar whir of the Ghosts light-infused aerial systems reverberated throughout the Ships interior, as he hovered over to the Ships surface radar to catch of glimpse of the distress beacon. He stared silently, and with purpose at the flashing representation of the lone Guardians beacon. I wondered what he was thinking. What he thought of the situation, or of the possibilities that it presented. I wondered intently at the origins, and inner-functions of my companion, and dear friend. At how what semblance of light he had allowed him to transcend the boundaries of simple Artificial Intelligence, into the realm of sentient thought. How he was, in ways that I have yet to understand, a direct conduit- an aperture- of the will of the Traveler. Of course, I asked him all of these questions on an almost regular basis, and he always responded with the same explanation. "All Ghosts are of the Traveler, and thus in theory, we ourselves are a part of the Traveler. We act through it as it acts through us." This, however, only conjured up more questions than answers in my mind. Questions that would also consistently lead to more questions of the same sort. We Warlocks can so easily be dragged boundlessly into the realm of disbelief and curiosity that so tempts us to answer the inquires of every catechism that lacks solutions. However, as Ikora Rey once stated in an emergency session of the City Consensus, "We have a solution". I just find it to be that it is not always as apparent as others would prefer. "We're approaching the beacon, Thallus." My Ghost reported, withdrawing me from my deliberations. I shifted my eyes towards the Radar, leaving the comfort of my thoughts and contemplation, as my Ghost transferred his spectral gaze towards me, knowing that I had once again, lost myself in thought. "The scanner is reading dozens of unknown signals down there... and I have a fairly reasonable suspicion that they're not Guardians." The Ghost said, with a slightly witty edge to his voice. I let loose a slight grin as I adorned my Eclipse Maw VI Combat Helmet, and adjusted the Ships course for a drop-off region. "I expected a few Hive breeding grounds here and there along the way." I jested back to my companion. The Ship settled into the drop-off position over a wide Lunar basin that housed the distress beacon. I observed my Ghost quietly as he was adjusting the Ship autopilot-orbital systems, and nodded my head, as a gesture that I was ready to be brought down. He looked back at me, and his gaze reflected a sense of understanding. My Ghost had initiated the process, and all at once, I felt every atomic and sub-atomic particle of my being flicker in and out of actuality, as my physical extance shifted itself onto the barren Lunar surface, within an instance of time. I felt the brittle rock formations, and celestial sand beneath my feet as I ambled around my surroundings, attempting to spot any sort of visual point of interest along the horizon of the hulking crater. However, as I glared into the long, deep dark of the cavernous, forlorn distance, there was only one point of interest that I dared to note. All of them, watching me; painfully scrutinizing me as if it was their sole purpose to do so. All of them- dark, and unfathomable. I stared nervously at them, as I shifted my vision to encompass the walls of the pit, only to meet dozens more of what I feared to see. All of them, enduring. Eternal. All of the eyes.

  • I guess I'll comment. Very good so far but some (very little) is left to us assuming stuff like your gear, weapons, ship, class, species and stuff. Also describe what the pit with all the eyes are at least to make it more ominous and scary. But it's still really good! I can't wait to see where this goes. And if you need any help I'm here for you.

    • Greetings to anyone who is reading this Destiny Fan Fiction as of now!!! Criticism of any sort is much appreciated, as I would love to do more of these, if it is what is desired!!! The stories to come will chronicle the unfortunate downfall (as well as the feats of greatness, and courage) of Thallus Wren; a Warlock of the Praxic Order, famous for his knowledge of Hive Lineage. Comment below if you liked the prologue, and feel free to do so anyways if you didn't!!! Good day to you all, and again, criticism of any sort is very appreciated!!!
