Constructive Feedback for Bungie Part 1

Oh, man. Here we go. First of all I want to put a disclaimer that I know putting this much effort into feedback is probably pointless. I also want to provide a disclaimer for my point of view and credibility. I main a titan at level 34, with 3300 grimoire score on xbox wth about 1000 hours in the game. Also my goal in typing this is to provide feedback that Bungie may not see as often. I won't be reciting all of datto's opinions because I'm sure Bungie to some extent pays a lot of attention to what he says so that would be useless. And that does mean positive feedback for things they maybe don't get enough credit for. Also I should note that criticizing games for the intent of making them better is something I would really love to do for a living but I mainly just do for fun so I hope you'll listen. I don't know what else to say in this intro so let's begin. Basically I want to start with the future of destiny. That weapon balance weekly update was undoubtedly the best weekly update there has ever been. There isn't a single bit of those patch notes that I'm not really excited for especially the ghorn and blackhammer nerfs. And if I may gush for a second the stacking of thorns DOT in pve sounds awesome. All of that was excellent and I mean that I want you to know that I mean that because when I am tearing this game apart further down I want you to know it's out of love. The ONLY beef I have with any of the changes is for the shotgun perks shot package and rangefinder. Rangfinder is getting it's range increase reduced from 20% to 5% and shot package is having it's effectiveness reduced by 33% I'm not sure I understand the logic of this? And I'm not defending rangefinder, but that perk is losing 75% of it's effectiveness while shot package is only losing 33% and if you talk to any experts of destiny pvp they all agree that shotpackage is the better perk than rangefinder. So I'm not saying buff rangefinder but perhaps shot package could be reduced by 66% to match the nerf? I do also want to tack onto the end here that to know you're working on making blink easier to fight against is incredible. I have always despised it being overpowered and that served as an inspiration for this massive feedback post because I know you're trying and aware of this game's faults. Now moving onto patrol and currency. One small piece is that when you're in a patrol area and there are patrol missions if there are duplicates of the same mission and you choose one of those, upon completion the other missions will have changed to a different mission? I'm not sure if this is some sort of intentional balance in order to force variety of missions or if you just don't know it occurs. Another note is two-fold, only once has it happened but I took a VIP mission in the cosmodrone patrol and I went into the wall and I was looking around for the usual servitor/vandal boss and then an archon priest came crawling out of the wall. Again I want to sing your praises because it was a new an interesting patrol mission which I assume was integrated in the House of Wolves. I have never managed to get it to trigger again but man it was cool. That alongside the skoris mini quest that you get from the reef bounty I really enjoyed and I think destiny needs a lot more of. I see no reason why there couldn't be more interesting patrol mini boss fights or bounties that led to mini quests. That would be awesome and if I can assume that something of this nature will be implemented in the new patrol zone and in the The Taken King's new quest system I am all for it. Onto currency I'm a little bit confused about the current state of the game I don't want to ramble on about the journey of the currency system in destiny but here's the point about where it stands now. The marks system is a little bit useless. Specifically vanguard marks. The first and foremost question is: Why can I only buy faction armor and weapons with crucible marks but I can apply pve reputation gains towards those factions? It seems like a simple thing that vanguard and crucible marks would only apply to their respective vendors but the factions would accept both? And this is only really a problem because your pvp is disgustingly unbalanced and therefore should be avoided for the most part. But back to the main point vangaurd marks are essentially useless because you can only buy a set of armor with them and a set of weapons. So once you have what you need there's really nothing left to use them on besides I guess buying things to break down for motes of light and glimmer? You already have a system that allows you to trade marks for materials which I can understand but I believe is misguided. I already have a large stockpile of materials. What I don't understand is why I can't trade vanguard marks for glimmer, reputation gains, or motes of light(which has become the most meaningful currency in the game besides etheric). We have nothing to spend marks on and reputation grinds are one of the only things left for most hardcore players why not let us allocate a currency that is not seeing use towards this? Also while remaining on topic of the vanguard and armor and currencies and such. I believe you should also allow the vendors to sell the old armor schemes. Because now with etheric light you can look however you want. But we can only REALLY look the way the current available gear allows us to look. So unless we saved all of our old armor (unlikely due to vault space issues) we now for the most part still look very alike. There would be no balance issues with this as armor perks have never been an issue, and would be to purely provide variety to the cosmetics of our characters. Are you still with me? Because there's a lot more. Here's a huge issue that I would definitely say is a major fault of the game. In some way, shape, or form you guys NEED to have some sort of bungie.net integration for the game. I understand to very small extent that you want everything even your menus to be atmospheric. But a lot of the story telling is through the grimoire, not in the game. Most of the matchmaking (lfg) is through fan made means, not in the game. Even your patch notes and updates are not in the game and there's no notifications for any of this in the game. Which is ridiculous. I know the ways of gaming are changing but look at something like battlefield which has battlelog and the main menu which provides links to patch notes. These recent notes made me appreciate this studio a lot more and you would be doing yourself a huge favor to put it in the game so you get the word out to people who actually play it. I don't even want to get into bullying you guys about the bad story and the necessity of grimoire. We know you love your little companion app but just put the app in the game. Have I mentioned these things need to be in the game? Because it's absurd that they're not. Another small note. Why aren't there more ghost shells? We all know it is possible to have a different looking ghost, so why not be able to get a ghost shell as loot? There is not a ton of cosmetic gear, shaders, ships, and emblems why not add ghost shells to the mix to give people more things to earn? This also lends to a very similar point. You really need to bring tyrion back. And I don't necessarily mean the actor. But my ghost, my faithful companion, hasn't said anything new to me since late september. Maybe there's some sort of issue with the actor (I understand his performance was criticized) but the ghost needs to start talking again and you should let us customize it. The game just feels that much more empty without it. I also briefly want to touch on vault space. Bungie, you seriously made a game that is about grinding the same missions/strikes/raids over and over again but gave us a small limit on what we can keep? Why? Why not increase it? (I know it's because of the old consoles, leave them behind they can be different) As I mentioned before with looking how we want to look we can't really do that if you guys don't give us enough space to keep our different outfits not mention optimal stat/perk builds. And you guys are planning to give us more gear and weapons then were in the base game with The Taken King but no room to keep it? On a final note before getting to actual balance issues. Changing some of the original strikes to spice up The Taken King is a great idea. If you read this and want to read more look for part 2 on balance
