The Plan After Taken King? Keeping Destiny Alive

LONG READ AHEAD- Bump for your support. I know there are supposed to be more expansions after Taken King comes out, but let's look at what we'll be getting... 3 New Subclasses Increased Level Capacity- 40. 6 levels to gain while going through the content. 1 New Location for all PvE activities- Destiny launched with 4 1 New Raid (as far as we know we only get 1) 6 new Strikes (1 of which is PS exclusive) A few new Exotic weapons and armors 7 Crucible Maps (8 for PS)- Destiny launched with 10 (11 for PS) 1 New Crucible Game Type (Rift) 1 New Crucible Game Modifier (Mayhem) I don't consider inferno a full mode, and since mayhem will likely be on Clash AND Control, it is more of a modifier. Keeping Crucible Alive The new subclasses will bring more variety to Crucible for sure but I feel that game type rotation will take away from the joy of Rift just as it takes away from the joy of Elimination, Doubles, Salvage, and Combined Arms. These are game types that all offer something unique or that appeal to a different type of player. We have a constant two game types for 6v6 but only one for 3v3. Doubles is the only 2v2 game type which is fine. Salvage would be the third 3v3 type which with the addition of Rift would even things out without the need of a rotation. We need our game modes to be a constant. Otherwise the game stagnates and people only log on to see if their game is on. I know only play Destiny for Osiris anymore. The only modes on rotation should be the DLC playlists, Inferno, Mayhem, and events like Iron Banner and Osiris. The Crucible menu should consist of the following: Constant Large team- Control, Clash, Combined Arms, Rift Constant Small team- Skirmish, Salvage, Doubles, Elimination Constant FFA- Rumble Rotations- Inferno Playlists, Mayhem Playlists (these will rotate between clash, control, etc. Weekly Event- Trials of Osiris Monthly Event- Iron Banner Keeping PvE Alive First and foremost, we need an event. We haven't had a real event with real rewards since Queen's Wrath, and those rewards only lasted 2 days before they no longer rewarded ascendant materials. [Fun status: Nerfed] Then there was the Blades of Crota which were a fun addition, but they now only appear on one mission, which makes getting a Husk far too illusive. This is no longer even event worthy. The Husk should have a chance of dropping from any NAMED Hive major on earth or the moon during patrols. VIPs included. This allows people who weren't around during CE a fair chance at a Husk. [Fun status: Nerfed] Currently we have the packs of wolves which we can be nearly sure they won't stay around when Taken King drops. This was the most fun I had in Destiny since launch until the chests were no longer able to be opened multiple times. There was always a bit of excitement as you raced to find the chest, open it, and see how many times you could get to and from it in hopes of finding a key. It was still just as time consuming as it is now, but equally rewarding. Now these have been removed as well and there isn't much to do on Patrols... [Fun status: Nerfed] Keeping Patrols Alive New Public Events I can't be the only person who is tired of Defend the Warsat, Destroy Fallen Walkers, Defeat Extraction Crews, Eliminate the Target, and Defend Against Vex Sacrifices. How about some new Public Events for us? Do something creative like a full blown boss fight in the more open areas. Consider things like a Hive Ritual on the moon bringing out a giant ogre like Phogoth, or the Fallen bringing down a huge servitor like Sepiks, an archon invasion, the Cabal could have a bombing run and they drop off large groups of infantry etc. Be ambitious, do something impressive. Can you imagine if a ketch came in at random and landing somewhere like the Steppes? You'd have to storm the ketch, hack the doors to eventually reach the ship's bridge, and kill the Kell inside or something. It'd basically feel like Scourge of Winter but cooler. Something similar could be done with a huge hive Tomb Ship. I'm probably being overzealous but I'd like at least 2 new Public Events per planet. New Patrol Missions We have Surveying, Scanning, VIPs, Collecting enemy drops, Eliminate all enemies. Can't we have something that requires more interaction? I want things that encourage exploration. Something that makes you go off the beaten path to find things. Something without a waypoint directly to the objective. Imagine if you were just doing a patrol mission and your objective was simply to locate the Archive. (Saying what if it wasn't a mission) So you don't know where it is, just that it's on Venus. You explore for however long and you stumble across the area where you have to open up the vault door to get in there. The prompt would be there as you come close to the control pad, but the game wouldn't tell you that it was there. It would bring about a sense of discovery that Destiny lacks. There could also be something where you have to open chests in specific areas looking for loot. We just need a reason to play Destiny for all that it has. This would liven up patrols again. Let us access more areas so that our missions can actually expand. Places like King's Watch or Jovian Complex should be open to patrols. There could also be some chance interesting encounters there. Lastly, there could be one exotic weapon per destination that can only be acquired through getting extremely lucky chest farming. Just a thought. Keeping Raids Alive This could be done very easily... with the introduction of Heroic and Nightfall Raids. Heroic Raids- Would give the raids a reason to be completed again. They wouldn't drop Ascendant or Radiant Materials AT ALL. Instead they would always drop a piece of Raid gear. These would be preferably 2-4 levels below level cap and would be capable of having any random 2 modifiers excluding Nightfall. The mods wouldn't change throughout the raid, they would change once per week with the reset. The modifiers allow these to offer varying difficulties. Nightfall Raids- Basically the same as a normal raid played AT level cap. These would be for the best of the best. The Exotic chest/Checkpoint would ALWAYS reward an exotic weapon, and beating the boss would have guaranteed chance of the end raid weapon/drop. (ie Mythoclast, Crux of Crota, etc.) This would not be easy, as your team would only get revived at checkpoints. The nightfall modifier would be the only modifier on however, as playing an at level raid is a challenge on its own. Being kicked back to orbit is brutal enough if the team wipes. There's no need to make the battle even more difficult with mods that make things less efficient. Having no modifiers allows this to be consistently the hardest activity in the game without changing up what to expect.

I do hope they one day scale up all raids. I'm tired so I skimmed through this. A correction for you. There's 6 Strikes I think. 1 PS exclusive. Definitely 8 Crucible Maps, not 4. 1 PS exclusive.

    • personaly I agree with most of this However about the heroic/nightfall raids, yes it would be extremly difficult however getting a garranteed exotic every time would be a bit to much especially scince people are already soloing crota flawlessly and doing vog flawlessy. ias well there are not enough raids to do this because other wise it will just be an obvious rotation each week(there would need about 5 I think). apart from that I agree with you
