I was just wondering what everyone else thinks of the HoW dlc. This is completely opinionated and everyone has their own reasons for feeling how they do. I will not post what I say or the reasons why so as not to put a bias on the poll.
I am defining a success in this poll as thinking that the HoW does a better job of bringing new players in than driving current players away from playing anymore.
A failure is believing it drives players away from playing anymore more so than it brings new players in.
I'm sure there are numbers that support one or the other, but I'm not looking for those. I just want to see everyone else's opinion on it. Leave your reasons for thinking so in the responses if you'd like.
Edit: Many are comparing this release to TDB, which makes sense, but it also doesn't really answer the question. Many, not all, considered TDB a major failure so it would be tough to be worse. If you have that view, HoW could still be considered a failure.

It was ok. It didn't fix anything really though. Just kept pushing it along or made it worse.
-
It was okay. Areas to improve are PoE rewards and lag/cheaters in ToO.
-
You look cute today
-
I think it was more a trial DLC. We learned more about ourselves through POE and hopefully bungie can figure out what we want in the next DLC.

Edited by Ne0nK0ala: 7/27/2015 1:45:50 AMIt's terrible, I can't see why anyone would vote that it is good unless they hadn't played the game at all beforehand, I went in with everything from the base game and first expansion, I was ready to be treated to a ton of new stuff to find. Got to 34 on 3 characters in the first few days, got all of the trials gear and exotics I wanted in first 2 weeks, done. And that wasn't even through over playing, if anything I under played it. You could get to 34 in the first week just by doing the three prison modes and then trials, easy as -blam!-. This dlc is pointless unless you are an uber casual, but even if you are, surely grinding the few activities it has is boring anyway, I'm definitely not playing destiny for the next two months, in fact I've only played a couple times within the last month.

Edited by TimboLextown: 7/27/2015 1:41:30 AMPoE has terrible rewards and was boring by Week 2, and I don't like PvP. Only tried ToO a couple times. So it was huge waste of money for me. Should have had a -blam!-ing raid.
-
I think neither. It didn't really add anything groundbreaking, but it didn't destroy the game either. If I'm nitpicking, some of Bungie's actions during HoW may have driven players away.
-
Bought TDB and HOW's, they were mediocre at best. Kinda felt like a waste of 35 bucks. Not interested at all in TK.
-
Its fun because there is constant fighting. It sucks because the rewards for doing it are terrible. It sucks because you can only play with 2 others, it sucks because the enemies become incredibly predictable. It sucks because the bosses present almost no challenge. It sucks because its very easy and required almost no learning.
-
Trials of Osiris was the only good thing about the dlc in my opinion.
-
The update was much needed as far as leveling and gear should have been. The actual content. "Ooooo a playlist to instantly load in to fending off waves of enemies"
-
Somewhere in the middle
-
Day one I was excited about the new content/story but other than the new shanks, there wasn't anything that didn't feel recycled or familiar. I still don't like the new set of gun perks, team activities (PoE/ToO) are repetitive or frustrating and rarely fun. It feels like a lazy DLC where they were just trying to buy time for a real DLC.
-
HoW was.... Ok. I really wish they included a raid, more story, and more strikes.
-
Average I seriously wanted a raid and more strikes, along with more lore and "story" from the Reef. I hoped for an NPC to be like Eros and tell about the Fallen threat and talk about the battle of Twilight Gap Variks is and ok NPC
-
Without a Raid, any worthwhile endgame gear, and sub-par PvP maps, I'd consider it a failure. Trials is the only thing remotely decent, and even then its stale from all the Thorn fire.
-
Pve this is very repetitive Pvp this is much better than TDB
-
ToO is the only reason I still play it. Love destiny but it's getting old
-
If everyone from my friends list leaving the game after a few weeks is a success.....then way to go bungie!
-
TDB and HoW are both mediocre at best and definitely did not contain enough new content to justify the price. Now with TTK coming out Bungie is really shooting themselves in the foot imo. They are going to release something with supposedly more content than the original game. Well that's good and all but then you are going to expect the me to pay for 2 more mediocre dlcs? Not gonna happen.
-
It was a step in the right direction.
-
It's alright.
-
Much better than crota, but i burned out on destiny. Should be refunds given for crotas end
-
HOW vs TDB, major step up with POE and trials
-
I think the DLC is vastly superior to TDB. I think it will be more effective in bringing new players in. but for existing players it is good, except for PoE. I was really enjoying PoE, but then with talk of legendary weapons not carrying on through Destiny, it kind of makes grinding for etheric light and more crappy Varik's armour kinda pointless. I'm all for the weapons not being carried over if that's where Bungie wants to go. Ive beaten Skolas once, wont bother again, the rewards simply are not worth it. Hopefully TKK delivers a better overall experience. Im keen to hang around until Destiny II comes out in 2016, but if that is as lacklustre as what we have had so far then that is when I will probably call time on becoming legend
-
I think it's a failure as in it didn't really add anything of substance to the game. The endgame content for both pve and pvp are either boring, broken, don't give rewards worth the time or all of the above.
