Bungie, please sort out your multiplayer servers.

I moan about lag. A lot. Yet I perservere and soldier on because I actually like Destiny. But Bungie, you really need to sort out your multiplayer servers. Relatively speaking, I don't mind the abysmal connections in core, core isn't strictly competitive PvP. But when you host weekly (Trials) and monthly (Iron Banner) competitive PvP arenas, with rewards that are actually worth the hassle, it shows your lack of understanding of what's needed for a fundamentally 'standard' competitive PvP. That being solid connections allowing for actual balanced matches (My views on other unbalanced factors being constrained currently). Playing Iron Banner and the MVP is the same guardian with a red bar connection three matches in a row, or where a team dominates the game because they have three people on red bar connections and two on yellow, really shows your failure in hosting servers. My interest in this game is already waning, I find myself returning to MGS5:Ground Zeroes or COD:AW, but it's your inadequacy and ineptitude at rectifying server issues that may be the final nail in the coffin. I purchased HoW like a lot of people did, but Trials is unplayable in my eyes. I enjoy PoE, although my usual fireteam has already departed for pastures greener (ESO & Arkham Knight), and the Wolves bounties keep me slightly occupied. The Iron Banner is the epitome of the problem, every single game is riddled with red bars. I'll stay around, play the Vault or PoE every so often, but I doubt I'll be here for The Taken King. Unless the problems with this game are sorted. TL;DR Version - Sort the servers out.

To add onto @Prawnicus, I find it troubling that there isn't appropriate public performance monitoring (status.bungie.net?), a response team to address anomalies in game production servers, or even admitting there's an issue with network performance. You can tail Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit with "destiny lag" and you'll alway find issues that are within the last hour. I've seen articles addressing cheaters but nothing about issues stemming from Destiny's end in regards to performance. As a developer, I can understand that scalable socket throughput and performant transactional requests are hard issues to solve and maintain. However, as a customer who has shelled out $100, convinced the "always-on" architecture wouldn't be a problem, it's very disappointing I can't game at my own convenience. My request is to form a team dedicated to addressing performance and informing your customers, separately from game related updates. I would think as a stakeholder of Destiny, the last thing I want to hear is less people buying expansions due to game lag. -Matt Twitter: @Matt_Lo
