The Taken King exclusive content doesn't deliver...
As an day one Destiny player/Xbox owner I am somewhat perplexed at the continued exclusive content for Playstation owners for The Taken King. I understand a launch promotion to encourage new perspective players to choose one console over another, however I feel that an established game shouldn't have continuous exclusive content for update that bias specific hardware platforms. Why is it that as an Xbox owner I am to pay the same price for the Taken King expansion as PlayStation owner, but receive less content and less value for my money? Why is the Xbox community being discriminated against by Bungie and Activision? Does Bungie and Activision deem the Xbox community/customers less important as PlayStation? Why are Xbox customers being punished? Why not just make Destiny a Playstation exclusive game? Why bother with Xbox at all?
Now I am sure there are going to be a lot of Xbox users crying foul and many more Playstation users telling them to suck it, but as customers in this consumer society, do you not agree that when you hand over your hard earned money for a product you should receive the same value as everyone else? Especially when you're all paying for the same product at the same price?
I expect nothing to come of this, just wanted to put it out there...

1 ReplySingle platform exclusive game =/= cross platform game with platform exclusive content. The first one is ethical. It's an all or none. The latter is unethical. It removes content from one side of the consumer base. It subsidizes unit sales before product even reaches market thus making a companies insure a financial success rather than the consumer.

... I'm not going to fanboy out anymore since I finally refilled my mood stabilizers. Halo was an Xbox exclusive. Launched November 15th, 2001. It has been an exclusive franchise for, wait for it, 13 years. Yup. So next time you think that it's unfair, remember that...well, of course it's unfair. That's why I bought an Xbox to put next to my PS. And why I now have an Xbox One and a PS4. Be an adult and just buy what you want. Gaming is a pricy hobby, and if you're not an adult...well, getting a job builds character.

The exclusives look as worthless as a Sparrow that no one will use in two weeks. My guess is that anyone who buys TTK even those who buy it the day of the drop, will get the same stuff, aka crap, as those who pre-ordered it.

1 ReplyWell a few things... (I'm a PS owner.. sorry) 1. There is some kind of contract mess is the back ground. 2. M$ (microsoft for non-tech people) may have a more difficult/expensive process for publishing/q&a/proper testing or something that makes developing for XBOX annoying. So by pushing users to another platform they my be able to save a few pennies/dollar/quid/euro. 3. Bungie hates XBOX Who knows, could be any of these. If it makes you feel better, me and you guys will probably get the hawkmoon on the same day. (When Xûr sells it)

1 ReplyIm on ps3 bit totally see your side of it. Its not like you getting the exotics and strikes is going to effect me anyway, and if I was in your shoes I'd be asking the same questions. I really hope you guys get our exclusives. Knowing bungie though, I honestly wouldn't doubt it if they would charge you extra for it, as pathetic as that sounds

I agree that a 1 year exclusivity deal is a bit excessive. I'd feel better if it was a couple months. My main concern with this deal is Destiny's evolution. If the rumor of current exotics becoming obsolete is true come TTK, then we on xbox will essentially have been given obsolete gear that is past their prime. It'd be like getting a Hawkmoon that caps at 300 ATK when the limit on everything else we have is 365. This will REALLY put a chip on my shoulder. If we can ascend pre-TTK exotics to TTK levels, then that would be better. Your move Bungie.

Sony paid for the [i]timed exclusives[/i]... good for them and their community. As an Xbox player... I'll end up with the same content FOR THE SAME PRICE... I just have to wait it out a little longer... no big deal. Besides... at the way things are going, I'll be able to complete the Strikes and have a Hawkmoon and Monte Carlo before all the PlayStation users get a Gjallarhorn anyhow. Heck, Xûr will [i]probably[/i] sell Hawkmoon & Monte Carlo before he sells Gjallarhorn... [i]wouldn't THAT be GREAT ;)[/i]

Either Microsoft or Activision wanted it on Xbox and Sony payed a little more to get some exclusiveness. Research on the game's development would tell you that Destiny wasn't intended for the Xbox 360 or One. Bungie has been working with the PlayStation as their platform since 2008. Only in the past 2 years someone said\asked\payed to put it on Xbox.
