Dear Bungie and Deej,
I have been playing Destiny since January and I really enjoy it. I was looking forward to House of Wolves, but have been greatly disappointed. I sincerely hope you will take a moment to read this, as I know I can't be alone in feeling this way about the update.
Trials of Osiris:
I am pretty good at Crucible; I'd say I average coming in second place in most games. I tried Trials three times the first weekend and it was one horrible experience after another. Everyone was either sniping or so good at this that my team, which included guys who could get 30 kills in a game, was wiped out. It was a completely aggravating experience and more importantly it was not fun.
Some people will react and say I'm not good enough at Crucible...and the truth is that they're right. However, that means that half of the DLC content is unreachable to me and I suspect hundreds of thousands of others who literally do not eat, sleep and drink crucible (in other words, we have lives with responsibilities beyond playing video games). I'd like to play an even match against equal opponents, but that's not how the system even works. I didn't even bother playing it this week and have no desire to waste time in the future with it.
Prison of Elders:
After the initial excitement about new content, I think there is a very real and harsh truth about POE; it is redundant and, I am sorry to say, boring.
Sitting through 4 or 5 rounds of the same thing over and over again to then finally get to what is usually an incredibly difficult boss is draining and, like Trials, just not fun. And if you're not 34 forget about playing level 34 or 35 (which you can't get to unless you are super good at the game anyway). I've wasted far too much time getting to the final boss to then waste even more time not being able to get past the final boss. At that point I just shake my head and, for the first time, really start to feel like playing this game is a waste of my time.
I'm a single parent, I work and raise my son. I enjoy playing and socialize with friends online. That's fun for me. What you did with House of Wolves, however, is just not fun. It's as if you designed it for just the hardcore expert players at the expense of the rest of us.
Thanks for listening.

Bump, could not agree more
-
I agree! They should do something for normal people...
-
*detriment, just to save you from further scrutiny.
-
Only caveat I'd add is that if PoE didn't have that ridiculous series of floating "mines" you have to run into the open and stand under so everything can take pot shots at you for no other reason than they needed a way to artificially add some wipes it would be much more fun.

Joining the club pretty much in the same boat
-
Yep That sentiment has been expressed by a large and growing number of players. I agree. It's a lot of time and it's not quite what we thought is was.
-
Exactly correct.
-
Thanks for this post.

I couldn't agree more! Well said!

I don't mind it being hard but it honesty just starts to feel like meaningless work, and as you said, no fun. My biggest issue is getting in and playing without having to put together a team. Maybe I would feel different if I actually got into to play easier.
-
I completely agree!! I have a real life, real responsibilities. This game is just not fun, it's excruciatingly painful! Unless you have no life and are 13 with no responsibilities.

Nice post. ToO was marketed as highend PvP, so since I don't mess with PvP in the first place I took a pass. Your comments about PoE level 34 and 35 remind me of the comments people were making about TDB when it first came out. That debate was who could or couldn't do Crota Hard. Let me just say this, play the game, don't let the game play you.

Edited by Speck311: 6/2/2015 1:01:18 AMI haven't tried either of them yet either. I work 60 hours a week and it was hassle enough to get nightfall groups. Now... Let's just say TY for your post. I am not against the content yet...just the "challenge" part of finding a group to even attempt it. I feel like I bought a computer not capable of using the Internet.

To be fair, 2 of the bosses are difficult, and 2 are cake. Urrox and Valus? Easy. Skolas and Qodron? Nurse, the butt-cream! Skolas, well, he should be hard as -blam!-. But Qodron? Hes waaaaaaay harder than his 2 counterparts. Hobgoblins everywhere that will wreck you in the blink of an eye, a slightly iffy mechanic which can leave you buggered if the Eye decides to wander off away from you... I dont mind hard bosses, but there is such a disparity between him and the other two... =/
