Life is not fair.
My fellow forum posters and guardians,
Some of you are under the perception that life is fair. That we all have equal chances to succeed. Game designers make games that everyone can win. You are wrong and deluded. LIFE IS NOT FAIR.
PVP is not about fair play. It is about who has better skills, armor perks, weapons, weapon perks, connection speed, latency, team mates. Only a small percentage of all Destiny players will see the lighthouse. Deal with it. Getting shot by thorn and then killed by an axiom bolt sucks. Nothing is wrong with the game. It's just you. You are not a good player. Don't feel bad. I suck at PVP also.
PvE players will not want to take your level 32 guardian into level 34 or 35 POE. I don't care how much skill you have. If the boss is a solar burn don't get upset when they kick you for not having the blessed GHORN. They are not being jerks. They just want to beat that game mode fast, and frankly you will be slowing them down. If other players talk smack because of your race, sex, or whatever, leave the lobby and player with someone else. Don't take it and then complain. Block obnoxious players so you will not receive messages or have to play with them again.
So let's all say it together. LIFE IS NOT FAIR. We can all stop posting about OP weapons, getting kicked because of being a unicorn, or the inability to get into the lighthouse.

4 RepliesEdited by Mr E: 5/29/2015 11:24:34 PMLife is actually very fair, most people are just unaware of it's fairness or too busy to notice. you seem to think that life is only fair if you succeed or at least base your argument around the succees idea and anything else is unfair... consider this: you don't get the success that you were hoping for - you say life is unfair someone else get's the success that they needed - you say life is unfair you go on for about a day all hissy fit but it passes they don't commit suicide o_O i say life is very fair sometimes it just happens behind your back as far as Destiny, well as other here pointed out... it's a game quite fair at that in my opinion, mainly because of it's randomness. PvP is fair play if you remember how each player got there, what they had to go through to get that Thorn or Last word vs the ones that never bothered. how many hours some played to refine their skills, learning along the way vs the ones that just jumped in and expected "life" to be fair and make them succeed. PvE... people come in all characters, some judge, others don't, most of them because of their experiences as well as a bit of common sence. some call succees winning vs the enemy others call succees making friends. any way... if you're wondering if i succeed ? PvP in Destiny is about who can use the cheapest weapons (first it was the Mythoclast, then Pocket Inifinity, then Suros, and now it's Thorn or Last Word) or who can be a "1337 h4><0rz" and operate a lag switch. PvE, plenty of people take lower level players in all the time. I've never once kicked someone for not having Gjallarhorn either. Why? Because that is being a jerk. Your whole tired little rant has one major flaw, this is a video game which, by definition, if very much not "life." People used to play games for fun. Your generation is what's wrong here, everyone wants instant gratification and it's ruining society. Edit: ToO math... 299,001 (flawless victories) x 9 is 2,691,009 matches 3,798,561 (total matches) - 2,691,009 (flawless winners) = 1,107,552 2,691,009 / 3,798,561 = 71% of the matches (at minimum) played resulted in a person going to the lighthouse. That is with zero errors, without the mercy boon, or any other modifiers.

5 RepliesI mean, I like the post mostly. But perpetuating an unfair system isn't helping anything. Life isn't fair, does that mean we should intentionally make it unfair for others? What do people do who look at homeless guy with no legs? Just shrug and say "life isn't fair" and keep walking? Life could be fair, but it'd take a lot of work.

It only matters that you stay 'til the end, because everyone gets the same chance at the same rewards. Life being unfair doesn't even factor into the equation. In reality, I think players would be ecstatic if Destiny went from random to unfair. If the game actually favored skill and performance rather than tossing a pair of dice, then there would be a great deal less frustration and dissatisfaction with this game. Destiny's formula is most definitely about fairness and treating everyone the same. Players can't see their PVP or PVE stats in-game, there are no ranked or competitive playlists, and no one receives anything special for doing better than anyone else. Destiny does its best not to raise one player above another in any way. Bungie doesn't want players to feel like losers, so their strategy is to make winning, losing, excellence, and skill all as meaningless as possible. As far as Destiny's PVP goes, Bungie's philosophy seems to be, "Everybody has to win, otherwise they won't give us money."
