Level 34 Prison of Elders Boss Guide - Qodron

Okay guys. So I know for most of you out there you have already done Qodron. But for those who need a better look at what to do for this spooky looking boss, I'm here to tell you my strategy to kill him efficiently. Me and my pals went straight on with him and had no idea what the hell to do. But as we went on we learned nearly the perfect strategy to killing Qodron. I hope this helps in any way! Lets start off with requirements ~Levels can range from 33 to 34. (Knowing most people who are not 34 yet needs to do 34 PoE for Etheric Light etc. blah blah) ~Having a Defender Titan is not required, but is somewhat recommended. ~Gjallarhorns. Lots and lots of Gjallarhorns. If you do not have one. Feel free to use a Black Hammer or even Dragons Breath. ~Decent Shotguns or Fusion Rifles (I'll get to that later in the tutorial) Now that we are done with the requirements, I'll explain on what exactly is going on in the boss room So first thing that is first you all need to know before running head on into this boss. You know Atheon from Vault of Glass? Yeah you do? Do you know the bubbles he throws around you and you have to destroy them? Oh you do now? Welllll you kinda have to do that now. But these barriers aren't your ordinary VoG stuff. There is NO possible way to destroy them. Try all you want to get them down, but even the Invective can take it down. So at this point you are probably wondering, "Well Gee Pleb how the hell do you destroy them?" Well sit down kiddies I'm about to tell you. Once you enter the room, you and your goons are going to have to mad dash towards left side. Left side will be your own personal home for that entire boss fight. Once you and your pals are there (and this part may be kind of tricky to explain) there will be a weird textured Goblin in a whitish aura that is named Qodron's Eye. He either exits from a door that is visible at left side or near Qodron. Now, whoever the last person is to kill Qodron's Eye they will get a buff lasting around 20 -25 seconds called JAILBREAK. The buff allows that person AND ONLY that person to destroy barriers. So once Qodron gazes at your sexy bodies and activates those barriers, the Jailbreaker will have to destroy EVERYONE'S bubble. This is where fusion rifles and shotguns come in handy. Once everyone is broke free, your squad should immediately focus your fire on to the boss. Ghalls and all. Make sure one of your players is constantly looking for fresh spawns of the Qodrons Eyes. One should spawn when the Jailbreak buff is around for a solid 15 seconds. But you just don't want to kill the thing when you see it. Wait until Qodron is about to activate the bubbles to kill it. Because if you don't, the Jailbreak buff will linger off before the bubbles appear and you will all have to think what you've done wrong for the next 7 seconds before you slowly die in your bubble. Now of course, there will be enemies around you. Hobgoblins were the main cause of our deaths in this boss room. So here is the set up me and my crew did to kill this boss: ~Two people clear out Hobgoblins (They can shoot the boss from time to time. Little love taps) ~One person looks for eye - Once the eye is found, shout it out to your buds so they can help there Jailbreaker kill it. This is the primary roles you need to set for your crew. If your crew gets overwhelmed with enemies, (such as Minotaurs mainly) That is where your titan will come in handy. Plus the bubble can give off extra damage on Qodron if they are using weapons of light. So let me break down what you and your crew need to do in order: 1. Rush left 2. Once eye is found, your assigned jailbreaker will get the finishing blow, giving him the buff 3. While waiting for the barriers to spawn, inflict damage on surrounding Hobgoblins 4. After barriers are up on everyone, Jailberaker will break him and his team mates out of the barriers 5. When everyone is released, all three will fire at Qodron 6. Repeat 2 - 5 Honestly guys. Once you get this down it's EXTREMELY easy. Welp.. I think that's it for me. Leave more suggestions below and I hope I helped anyone out from this. And thanks a lot! P.S. - If you're wanting help with other stuff (Raids, PoE, etc.) Just ask! I'm willing to help anybody because I've done everything and have no life D: I'm on Xbox 360 as a level 34 Sunsinger Warlock and I'm on from nine in the morning to whenever. Again guys thanks for reading and I hope I've helped.

  • Good details but with all the post everyone make I do not agree with one thing, everyone say's to go left. WHY? Going right is 10X easier. On the left there is a lot of open space and the hobgoblins can rush you from many angles. On the right side the goblins and hobgoblins only come up the stairs to your left. My teams strategy was go to the right have one person watch stairs while the other 2 shoot Qodron. We would make sure to keep an eye on Qodron's eye and kill him about every 25 or so seconds to get the jailbreaker and on the right there is still a safe spot to group up and destroy detainment bubbles. I just baffles me why every guide I see says go left when going right is 10x easier.

    • No no no the easiest way is 1 defender titan puts his bubble up as soon as you get through the door 3x max gally with full ammo and sinth in reserve. Step in and out of the bubble blessing of light is best smash him to bits reload smash again DONE 45 seconds total

      • Just one thing. You can actually destroy the bubble without jailbreaker it will just take a lot longer due to no amplified damage. This is why it's good to stack up so you can all shoot the bubbles. Your teams damage will help you break them before you lose anybody.

        • Also a voidbro with the ram helmet and max armor can break out of the shield without the buff.

          • Just a FYI, you CAN destroy those barriers without the Jailbreaker's buff, but I wouldn't recommend it.

          • This boss is almost impossible with 3 level 33's. We tried everything, even the WoL and Gally method, which didn't work bc the damage didn't happen fast enough, and the Vex got to us fast and killed us on the second set of rockets we used from synthesis. We tried doing it legit between the "trickle" of Super energy to get my bubble back, and it was impossible. Being 33's trying to get to 34, this is insane. Trying to kill the major Eye dude as a 33 takes time, unless you use your precious heavy to do it quickly (like we did one try) and not 30 seconds later he's back and we are in a bubble dying again. With all the ads, there is 0 time as a 33 to put damage on Qodron. Your literally trying to stay alive, then kill the specific Goblin, stay alive through bubble phase, then try not to get sniped again. Over, and over, and over...insane. Apparently if you were unable to get on and do the 34 strike last week to get light to get to 34, your screwed. I've done nightfall...no etheric light. I knew for sure we'd get this last night after all the videos of people killing him in 30 seconds or so, but with all 33's it's 20 times tougher. My brother and friend didn't have another Titan at 33 to use, so the Blessings and Weapons method was not possible....it's just really frustrating that everyone was able to get to 34 last week as 33's with no problem really, but this week if your all 33's it's literally an uphill, insane, impossible battle...just for light to GET to 34. We did Level 32 before trying 34, and we had to restart one round...so we aren't terrible players, and that's the frustrating part to me. All we want is to get to 34 like the majority of people seemed to do last week, but after all that bull last night, I give up with a 33 team. We agree'd that unless we can find a 34 to help (which I don't count on), that next week is the best bet. It just pisses me off that Bungie goes from a fairly easy Level 34 last week, to a near impossible one for anyone NOT 34 this week. That's crap Bungie...screw you. Sorry to vent man, but after spending so much time getting to Qodron, just to be unable to finish it....it pisses me off. If anyone comes across a video of a full 33 team accomplishing this, please comment and let me know...though I doubt my two friends want to go through that hell all over again.

            • Good write up. Can definitely be done as 33s, but 34 gives you more margin for error.
