Where ToO succeeds

I haven't even played it yet, all I've read really is negative reviews.. but where it clearly succeeds is generating interest in PvP. I was primarily PvE but I'm looking forward into diving into ToO. I also like that during the trials you don't need to win an outlandish number of games to reach the top. Most other PvP geared rewards were pretty ramped up (I think of Thorn bounty). So even if you don't like how it's set up, at least you are experiencing another part of the game. Instead of not being happy about drops (I think of Gjallarhorn complaints) you actually CAN earn your rewards.

  • Trials succeeds in being a great Idea, however the execution leaves me with something to be desired. People who complain about the thorn/mytho spam in the matches obviously don't play pvp because it isn't exclusive to just trials. The potential rewards in terms of light is nice to see get rewarded to PVP players in general keeping them in step with the PVE players. My biggest complaint is the matchmaking system for the trials. Personally I faced off against many people who had either been flawless or had their 9 wins already, i feel that people who have completed a 9 win card should be moved into a different grouping so they can't screw over other people (I faced 1 9 win team going for their flawless on 6 different cards). The event left a horrible taste in my mouth this first weekend after at best getting 4 wins (get good I know!) but not because I expected to go flawless but just expected balance.
