Auto Rifles

Could we please see a little more improvement with these guns? They are Sooooo useless in crucible

  • I definitely agree. It's pretty sad when you empty an entire clip on a player in crucible and they turn around and shoot you twice with a hand cannon and kill you. The problem with the nerf was they reduced overall damage, stability, AND accuracy. It's almost impossible to shoot anyone in the head since the gun shakes all over the place. Shooting players in the body [i]with[/i] low damage results in the other guy killing you faster. My other big gripe is weapons like the hand cannon and sniper rifle are supposed to be weapons that reward players that take risks missing shots in return for a high damage hit. That would be all well and good if there wasn't aim assist with these weapons. How can a wobbly auto rifle compete against an aim-assisted hand cannon? It can't. Even if both weapons are 100% accurate, the "time-to-kill" rate is higher on hand cannons. Your only hope is if the other player miraculously misses his shot or has his back facing you first. There are simply too many weapons that kill players in one or two shots. Bungie was quoted saying that the auto rifle is meant to be like a "chain saw" that does damage up close. Good luck killing a player up close when they can simply slide at you with a shot gun or one-shot you with a fusion rifle. The auto rifle doesn't seem to have an advantage at any distance. Too far and you will lose to a hand cannon or sniper. Too close and you will lose to a hand cannon, shot gun, or fusion rifle. I still love Destiny, but it's shame that I feel like auto rifles are only good for dismantling.

  • PVE, too. The vex suffered a similar fate. And the poor suros. Weapon specific nerfs AND class nerfs.

  • I wonder if they've considered bringing their precision damage more in line with the rest of the sandbox. As is, in general, they do less base damage and have a lower precision damage multiplier. Even if you land all your shots perfectly (which is a large assumption, given these guns require more successful hits to do similar damage to other guns), you're still at a deficit. ARs are fun to use. But on the whole, when performance actually matters, they're not even an option anymore. It's a shame, because they otherwise have a really nice mix of setups and perks, but they're almost wholly nonviable for end-game content.

  • They were overnerfed and the nerf even wrecked them in PVE The only autorifle that ever caused an issue was Suros Exotic but in truth it was on par with Thorn so I would never of called it OP.

    The sad part about all of this is that they have given us the chance to rerole weapons. We now have the Summoner, the Wolf's Claw, and a few more auto Rifles that are awesome to look at but aren't in anyway usable. Why would you people give us this stuff and not even make it of use? Someone said earlier that exotic ARs weren't even usable, and your exactly right. Not even in the Trials do you see any ARs. Its kinda of sad that the Vestain Dynasty (which is good) it does more damage then the ARs I've mentioned and they have more impact. Wtf. Bungie please could you change this???

  • I don't like that they gave auto rifles a nerf Just because a couple of kids get killed by a gun in a crucible match doesn't mean a thing. All you see is vex and thorn anyways..

  • Not just pvp even pve they just cant match an other guns none are worth the time in my opinion had both hard light and suros dismantled both just because they are useless which is a shame :-( bungie has to improve them now as new perks let scouts fire full auto
