Lighthouse is for Lore
The purpose of the trials is based in the lore! Something EVERYONE has been complaining is lacking! When Osiris was banished from the town he started recruiting the strongest guardians to bring him to his cause. He didn't say he wanted to bring the whiny 12 year old that feels entitled to have everything handed to them. Case closed!!! You wanted more lore and there it is
Ps. I am someone that may never make it but I am not complaining!

As for the whiny 12 year old comment, grow up and stop trying to insult people, no one care wtf you say, so move on. People who haven't made it, yet are not polluting the forums with crying hate posts are amazing haha thank you sir. P.S: You will make it there eventually and join the other champions. My vote is with you Senator. I think that it gives everyone something to aim for, now that reaching the level cap is stupidly easy. Esp if access resets on a weekly basis, just like POE. Really Lighthouse is a proxy for Thorn, people complain because they don't have the PVP skills to get, or have to cheese it in Freeforall with friends. I hope Lighthouse can never be cheesed.

14 RepliesI respect that the Lighthouse is a Trials of Osiris, PvP-only thing. I've got no problem with that. But if we're going to bring lore into this, please explain the purpose of legions of guardians spending all their time fighting each other. I understand the notion of live-fire training, but seriously it seems like the Crucible is treated like a form of entertainment in the Last City. It would be like the U.S. Army televising all the training battles at Fort Irwin, but never actually fighting a war.

I think people want lore that comes with the game. It's called a story, destiny doesn't have that. They have "lore cards" that they make up on lunch breaks.

I'm with you. I'm probably not going to make it either. I enjoy the few games that I do well in on PvP and don't get upset about the games I eat it in (which is good news for me because those out weigh the good ones by far). Just kind of stinks that being a big fan of the game, there's going to be a section of it that I never have access to. I guess that's why we have YouTube?!

It's not more lore that is the issue but the fact players have to go [b]outside[/b] of the game to access it. The game's story is one of its greatest weaknesses and players turn to the lore to compensate for it. Lore should be a complement to a story, not a substitute.

1 ReplyThat's one way to look at it. The other way is that The Lighthouse was where Osiris settled down after he was exiled. I [i]think[/i] he brought some disciples with him or they came to him afterwards, because there seems to be a lot of living space there, plus a little nook below the entire area with two skeletons, a dead Goblin, and a small living quarters. That's, you know, lore and stuff.
