Alright here's another idea to throw out there.
Matchmaking, clearly it's highly desired but there are two camps. Optional and tradional.
So as we've seen with the weekly optional seems to fall in Bungie's blind spot. Maybe it's a lobby issue.
Here's my proposal.
Premade fireteams could have a "invite only" toggle in the roster tab inside the start menu. The fireteam leader can then toggle it on or off, matchmaking checks the Boolean value. If value is true then no matchmade player injections.
Like and bump the post if you agree. Got to get Bungie's attention
What say you?
At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?
Pack it up kids. Bungie has spoken. They want their consumers to find accessing their game challenging. I'm done. This is my last Bungie game.

Can't agree more. Gota have optional matchmaking in PoE level 32, otherwise to many players are excluded from endgame and stuck at level 32. Will be starting my own tread on this in due course.

Optional matchmaking for the win.

I like the idea of optional matchmaking. I usually play with 2 other guys pretty much all the time. If it was optional I wouldn't have to worry about my other friend not being included when it started or being left out if we started before he fully logged in, since it's a 50/50 shot of getting an error code within the first 5 minutes of the game. Wall of text later, I agree with making it optional, just have it set up in settings similar to the helmet in social spaces tab.

bump!

I don't care if it being optional causes it to take longer to find teams, I'm happy to wait an extra few minutes. I'm tired of this pissing contest with Bungie. Don't they know this keeps people from playing? Scheduling out each play session through forums and invites is insane when matchmade activities like weekly heroic do the exact same thing for you!

Sounds like a good solution.

Edited by ironBill: 5/22/2015 2:59:38 PMI could totally live with that option. It also makes sense from a programming standpoint. I'm coming around to the matchmaking since HoW because the truth is there is no reasonable way to expect people to solo all levels. A few super players might, but that isn't who the market is. HoW is made specifically for 3-man fire teams. If anything, I think it's hurt players on both ends. There is no need for 6-man squads, and there is no way to reasonably solo. That's a pretty specific window, and honestly the ability to handle it should be built-in.
