Destiny is a T rated game. And still you can find 8 year old kids playing in crucible and in strikes. The content in Destiny is stuff that a 8 year old shouldn't be playing. Just like you see kids on CoD, they should not be allowed to run around and kill people. And GTA; that a a M rated game for a reason. Let's go through the list; prostitutes, drugs, cars, money , strip club, sex, guns; and that's just the tip of the iceburg. Vote to tell me if kids should be allowed to play games like this.

I'm never having kids

Everyone matures at different ages, ESRB and the other restriction game organisation thingies only think about game content and not the player, which is a massive problem. The player should be much more important when putting up restrictions, since that is the one that is going to be using the product itself. A game doesnt run without a player.

I've grown up as a gamer. Started in 1984. My kids have grown up with 2 gamer patents and they themselves enjoy video games. They know the difference between fiction and reality because we taught them. Any kid that doesn't, well, that's on the shit parenting. There is a progression system we went through as to what we allowed them to play. As they got older we let them play more. The know what happens in video game is fiction and that's all that matters to me. They get taught about sex and violence in school, video games are tame compared to history and biology. There is nothing in GTA that they haven't already seen elsewhere. Video games are not the devil that corrupt children. Shit parents are the problem.

Well, i did play Postal 2, Soldier of Fortune and other very violent games as a kid, but it never affected me. I always knew it was just a game, and nothing else.
-
I think that once the kid gets close to the age (so like 11 for T games and 15 for M) it depends on how mature the kid is and if they can handle it. Other than that, they should not be allowed to play those games. Especially not the young 8 year olds that play those games nowadays.
-
I played rated M games when I was a kid and I was mature enough.
-
It all depends on the child when it comes to T rated games however M rated games can be a different story.
-
I see them more as guidance, when my son hits that sort of age I actually hope he's out playing with friends than playing games, but it'll all depend on his mental age and maturity to whether I let him play games set for an older audience
-
"That a a M"
-
I couldn't play m games till I was 11, and then there's these 4 year old squeakers running around gta online and the cods
-
I wasn't allowed to play any gta until I was 13. In reality kids shouldn't be exposed to adult themes till that age or older. Blood isn't really a problem but if you're cutting people's heads off or in half that's different.
-
It's more so on the parents than the games. I played GTA 3 when I was young, he'll my dad even gave me cheat codes and I never killed anyone or have thoughts about killing someone
-
>be me >playing Battlefield >father sees me playing >*father* "son, use the RPG."
-
Sadly it doesn't matter, kids these days have access to everything on the Internet anyways. But yeah if games meant for adults were only played by adults the gaming world would be much better. Well except for Activision, their COD sales would flatline.
-
I'll let my kid play rated m games before kindergarten, nothing bad will happen.
-
I turned 18 this year, and I have lived the greater part of my life playing video games of all ratings, and there is nothing wrong with me. Please don't bring up this argument simply because the children on multiplayer games are annoying. It really comes down to the kid playing the game, some can handle the violence of games and some can't.

I've been playing Halo, Gta, Mario, sonic, Mortal Combat, Original CoD, splinter Cell since I was 6-7 years old. I hit my first 50 in Halo 2 on team snipers when I was 12. I knew just about every super bounce and glitch in Halo 2 as well. I believe every kid is different and you can't judge them as a whole. Am currently 19 now and play video games just fine. Kids should be allowed to play whatever they want. I hate when older people try to act like it should be the law of the land
-
Cars and money are harmful for children...?
-
Never was a problem when I was young and I came out just fine...only way if this is a problem if the kid wasn't mentally healthy to begin with
-
Leave it up to the parents to decide if they want their child to play games rated over the appropriate age group.
-
I say its fine as long as they're mature and not some little fuck wit who runs their mouth all day long on the mic.
-
Why the -blam!- not? If the kid starts trying to do it in real life then stop letting them, no different then movies and tv shows, I -blam!-ing hate it when people think kids shouldn't, the rating is there to show what kind of stuff is in the game, not to say who can and can't play it
-
Not to nit pick here... but cars? Lol when did automobiles become a threat to children?
-
There was a kid playing GTA 5 that didn't know how to read...

Ok I see pros and cons with kids playing T & M rated games. I am a gamer and I have kids 18,12,8. Here is the kicker to all you ppl who say yes to playing M rated games. - what if the kids are girls. GTA 5 with prostitutes and acts of sexual nature. - not all game players are boys. -I don't mind the violence in the Halo games. - what kid has not heard some bad words. - I do believe it depends on the maturity of the kid but the question is at what age do you start letting them play with online games with real ppl on the other end talking to them. - me personably I monitor my children on what they play. And let them watch some of the games I do play. Depends on the game I must say.
