I'm getting pretty tired of starting strikes with people, and all they do is just linger around in the back and let me and some other person do all the work, so they complete a strike even though they just stand there. It's something that's been happening a lot lately. Idk how it'd work, but a "vote to kick" system or something similar would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, I know a "vote to kick" option could be abused. Which is why I said "or something similar". If you have any better ideas on how to stop people from AFKing please share. I just want a way to stop people from being lazy and actually have to participate in the strike.
Update: As it turns out Bungie has already started working on this problem, as seen in the weekly update. Thank you to Cadder for pointing this out to me!

Here's a simple solution: Report for Inactivity, the system then runs a simple test, no player input within x amount of time from moment of inactivity report = auto kicked. That way it can't be abused as badly as say, left for dead's system
-
My technique is to never open doors, I've been in strikes with lingerers(sp?) And afk'ers and they are to lazy to even open a door to continue a strike they just leave. Its sad and funny at the same time.

Bungie needs to implement some form of smart "reward by participation" monitoring system. some simple, though not fool-proof suggestions: Did not enter strike zones? zero rewards. Zero in-strike kills or damage given/taken? Zero rewards. Did not see boss? Zero Rewards. The above are far from perfect, but stuff like that. It has to be numerous conditions that can't be avoided when playing naturally, but can easily be missed by not participating properly.

Reread this weekly update. Bungie describes exactly how they want you to deal with the AFK issue. If everyone would actively do this, then the problem would go away.
-
It's simple. We kill the Batman.
-
Nope, why don't you man/woman up and just get it done, that's what real guardians do.
-
A vote system would probably work best
-
How about afkers run the risk of an RNG roll that takes one random exotic and shards it. Ha that will put an end that shit.
-
You could just have an automatic kick for someone who isn't in the same area as the person furthest through the strike within a minute of so of them getting there.
-
Fix the RNG and reward players for effort in game. As long as doing nothing gets you the same, or many times better, rewards as those playing this will always be a problem.
-
If they'd stop it from automatically going to the next strike and making people click continue instead that would help some. They'd at least have to be watching the whole time instead of rubber banding their controller and going to work!
-
I think Bungee should implement an algorithm to pair inactive players based on reports and play history.

If they afk one strike they get a timed ban?
-
Why call it AFK and not AFC? I don't know about others but I play 100% of my games with a controller. There are a lot of trolls and the kick wouldn't be good, bungee just needs an auto kick for doing the heroic and ROC strikes
-
How about if your killcount is under a certain amount you don't get any rewards.
-
Maybe have a mechanic in place for when the distance exceeds x amount between two players. Then auto kick those who do nothing, I don't condone this but if someone does nothing in a strike and they are on my team in the next strike I run them over with my sparrow. That way they get the jist :P

Report button has options like unhelpful, connection, cheating ect....

bungie are monitoring them. all ur suggestions are good but abusable. if u want to strike get a fireteam. problem solved. ps.... and people want matchmaking for raids. smh

Edited by GhositYird: 4/27/2015 9:33:24 PMLinger in the back? After being sent to the Black Garden where the first player left immediately and the second departed after clearing the first area ... huh? ... I got sent to The Devil's Liar. I noticed one of us did not start right away. Whatever, forge ahead. I was killed during the 3rd wave while taking down thebarrier and realized we'd been a duo instead of a trio. I spawned way back in the complex so went looking for our absent "third". He was camped in The Divide and AFK. That is beyond low. And what Bungie really needs to do is prioritize Strikes that are either missing a body because the person dropped out or need an AFK replaced. We don't need a kick button so much as a simple algorithm that monitors ongoing strikes to ensure there are three Guardians pulling their weight. THAT would be brilliant.

I don't see how a kick/vote system would not get abused. Could Bungie program an algorithm to check for inactivity? We assume so but I'd rather them get some content out first. Personally I solved this problem for myself a long time ago: Go to orbit and start a new strike
-
They wouldn't implement more than what they have already, which is getting booted to orbit after x minutes of inactivity. I play raids, crucible and strikes with friends and sometimes, one of us needs need to step away from the controller to do something else for a bit. We wouldn't vote him/her off because of that, we would just continue till he/she came back. Its not like the strikes are so hard that they couldn't be soloed if needed. Just saying, if you play with random people and they go afk on you, well they aren't getting glimmer or engram drops, so just continue or go to orbit.

The sad thing about this is as much as I love it, there would dicks out there that vote to kick the random, right before the boss dies.

Edited by RENEGADE: 4/28/2015 1:58:15 AMNo way in H E L L. People abuse the kick option. No way will it be added and should never be added. Im sick of them to but you can report them and record the video on ps4 and xbox one and send it to bungie as proof of the player doing that. Enough complaints and they can be banned from the console and destiny. A vote to kick feature would be abuse worse than these standing still players. Talk about a system that gets majorly abused in games. Its always abused in games. No way should that be added in destiny! It would only be a playground for jerks kicking random people out to bring in friends. Nope... Never in matchmaking should it be allowed. Would be abused like no other by jerk kids.
