I do wish all these items were for more than just looks! In the future it would be cool if these items also came with their own little perks. Class items could add resistance to various element damages. Emblems could cause things to drop more frequently. Not like all the time, but a small percentage buff. Shaders could influence experience earned for the various vendors and enemy types.
Now, I wouldn't want the perks to have too much influence as to what people would equip. An emblem could add a 5% chance for more heavy ammo to drop. While a class item could give a 10% resistance to void damage. Equipping a specific shader could boost experience earned killing dregs by 2.5%. That's just a couple quick examples. They could also buff weapons, grenades, or recharge rates.
I would just like to see these inventory items be a little more useful. Naturally people will keep a bunch around and switch between them as needed for maximum efficiency, but keeping the values small would at least make it so that the importance of having many items in your inventory won't necessarily break the game for people who want to use something just for looks.
