Think about it; we were a civilization who had a great and fantastical Golden Age, but it was destroyed by something called the Darkness. We were scattered all across our former territory. We then discovered that our former homes had been occupied by strange and barbaric aliens who can barely speak English. The Seventh Column (not the forum, you newbies) is humanity, the Darkness is... Well, the Darkness, the users trying to reclaim the site are the Vanguard, the people who moved to private groups or offsites are the Awoken, the Destiny users are the Fallen/Hive/Vex, and the Ninjas and veteran users are the Nine; who just sit back and laugh as everybody tries to take control.
