Humans have an unnoticeable influence in the galaxy.
The Fermi paradox is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilization and humanity's lack of contact with, or evidence for, such civilizations.

Basically even if there is other highly intelligent life form(s) in our galaxy the chances of them coming across our tiny bubble of influence in our short period of civilization is laughably small. We think a little too highly of ourselves to assume we are so important and awesome that we can't be missed.
Tl;dr Fermi's paradox isn't a paradox.

That's a nice addition to the drake formula, which accounts for all variables for a rough estimation for ET life in our own galaxy. The drake formula estimates around 10,000 advanced intelligent civilizations in our galaxy, but the factor not considered is time. The possibility and probability of those ET civilizations are sound, but as civilizations rise and fall in a blink of an eye relative to space time. Time, like distance, is another barrier that keeps ET life from meeting with ours.

Short version: Humans and any other sufficiently advanced species, group of species, or whatever it may be, are likely to stay away from eachother, [i]for now.[/i] [spoiler]However, Fermi's paradox may not be everything. I'd relate it to distance and time affecting what we see, so whatever's out there, doing the same, will receive the appropriate results according to that factor. I would presume different civilizations would 'shy away'* from eachother, usually only leaving brief messages in a universal language (which we may not fully know yet?) explaining where they're going and what to be careful of. *Like how we prefer -not- to contact aliens and live a private, 'peaceful' life which is simple with simple problems with simple answers, I would assume they would agree, if they knew our language, that we'd all prefer not to interfere with eachother. However, there'll always be a section in each civilization that will mingle with eachother, forming a sort of Covenant or an analogy to the Citadel, as seen in Mass Effect, or wage war on eachother in a part of the galaxy that has been designated as a permanent battleground, with worlds that reshape themselves frequently, perhaps.[/spoiler]

Its a giant, black object that orbits Earth, and no one knows where it came from. Some believe it has been orbiting for thousands of years. And that it has been watching and surveying us. The really eerie thing is that Nostradamus once said "Mankind will discover objects in space sent to us by the watchers."

The universe is incomprehensibly huge. To say that there is no other intelligent life out there would be a pretty ridiculous assumption. It's pretty cool to know that somewhere out there, right now, things are probably happening that we can't even imagine

Yeah, by the time other civilizations find a way to travel even remotely near other civilization's planets/galaxies, we'll be dead much longer than the dinosaurs have been dead. Probably.
