First wave on nightfall keeps repeating

So I'm in nightfall and this is the 5th time that after the 1st part of the spawn vex are all destroyed, it makes me send Dinklebot to open the door. I thought it was because I was sniping fine I'm solo but after doing it again right beside them it's happened again. Anyone else have this issue?

    To you morons saying it isn't cheesing, can you do it without icebreaker? The answer is no. You'll be out of ammo before the first wave is over. Quit crying because you can't hide. You can still snipe, just not from some absurd range that wasn't meant to work. Of course they would patch it because this community likes to exploit every tiny thing they can find.

    • Yep. No sniping allowed now. Unless you snipe every enemy but one, run down and kill him, and do the same thing for every wave afterwards, But if you do that, it's cheesing, apparently. But if you get tired of being called a cheeser for sniping from a rock, I have a solution.... Melee everything. And make sure you turn off Force Barrier, or Blink Strike, or Throwing Knife, etc., etc. Then, and only then, a non-cheesing legend (elitist) will you be.

      • Tested method: Leave one guy down there. I hid behind a rock towards the ship and sniped/took cover. The other 2 guys were free to snipe from wherever they wanted to and we had zero issues of freezing up or waves not spawning. I made sure to stay in "radar range". Just meaning that i could see the red from the enemy on my radar at all times. I don't know how far back towards the ship you could go before you would hit their invisible point of no spawn lol. I didn't want to find out and i can stay alive down there while still doing damage. Certainly helps to have others sniping from a perch though. Big time. Soloing this would be pretty time consuming and tough now I;ve been hearing that they posted on twitter or something that this indeed was an accidental byproduct of the 1.1.2 patch. So if that's true we can expect a fix in the next 6 to 18 months hahahaha, i had to throw a jab on this one.

        • If you are on the ship it resets it but if u go down or up on the cliff it should work.

            • Bungie changed the game so that you must be after the last bridge for the game to proceed to the second/third wave. If not then the door does not open and spawning stops. It negates the use of sniping techniques and forces you to play the game their way. To those who call sniping cheesing, change your diapers! Sniping is a long range task based on stealth, patience and precision. A sniper who takes fire is a dead sniper! Tell Bungie so they can remove sniper rifles from the game or just give them scout rifle range.

                  • The next destiny game will be a film with quick time events, you know... Just to make sure you are playing it as intended. Seriously though I hope this is a glitch and not another rail road to make you play one way.

If bungie had "patched" anything, their dev team would've posted an update explaining how the section wasn't being played as intended like they did when they blocked the hiding spot under the platform during the Aksor fight. You guys really think they would do something like that WITHOUT patting themselves on the back publicly?? Come on...

                          • Apparently bungie fixed it where you snipe from high up because it's too easy so they make you go down. It's not cheesing in my opinion. Just smart

                            The patch for Sniper Rock that resets progress is totally bogus. Using distance to your advantage is the whole point of having a long range scoped rifle. God forbid we use tactics and superior position to beat the enemy. Hunters are not supposed to fight like Titans or Warlocks. That is why we are friggin' Hunters. Stealth and shadows and appearing when and where we're not expected and all that sort of thing. This is the only point in the whole game where I actually prefer to use the relatively useless No Land Beyond and now the powers that be have gone and screwed that up. Oh, well. One more Exotic Shard in the bank for whatever weapons / armor that are added to HoW.

                          • Can someone clarify for me, what rock is he/she referring to? I usually stand where those 3 hobogoblins after the short bridge are when the vex and fallen are fighting.
