  • Bungie.net has moved to new authentication technology provided by Microsoft. This move is necessary to continue to provide the ability for you to sign into Bungie.net and link to your Destiny activity on Xbox. Even though this new technology puts you in control of your Microsoft account, it does seem like you are required to grant way too much control to Bungie. Here are the permissions are you are asked to give to Bungie.net: - Sign-in to Xbox Live and access and update your Xbox Live Account and interact with the Xbox Live service on your behalf. - Access your Xbox Live info anytime These are the minimum permissions we need in order to provide the following two services: - Sign in to Bungie.net with a linked Microsoft Account and Xbox Live Gamertag. - Get your Xbox Live friends list when you are signed into Bungie.net. What can you do? Microsoft lets you change your mind and revoke permissions you previously granted. Visit this link: https://account.live.com/consent/Manage From here you can see all of the apps and websites that you have at some point given permissions to access your Microsoft account. You can visit each, including Bungie.net, and select “Remove these permissions.” This will not harm your Bungie.net account in any way. The next time you sign into Bungie.net you will be asked to grant permissions again, but you do not run the risk of somehow damaging your Bungie.net account.

  • A change was introduced on Bungie.net today, that requires a Microsoft linked account to have an Xbox live gamertag associated with it. Bungie.net accesses this information. Yes, you have to give the website/app permission to access your Microsoft account. The primary reason for the change, was to enable the ability to see friends made on Xbox one. Up until today, the friends list only displayed Xbox 360 added friends.
