What do your tattoos mean?

I have only 3. They are all in memory of my baby brother who left this world July 5th 2014 at the age of 25. He is the one who introduced me into the gaming world.

  • Mine is Death of the Endless from the comic book The Sandman. I got it to commemorate the end of the worst year I've had.

    • http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/redryder1996/photo_zps00f04ca1.jpg Mine is an Egyptian Cross. It's an important part of my religious identity as an Orthodox Christian. In Egypt our people have branded ourselves with this tattoo for over a millennium as a way of distinguishing ourselves from our neighbors and maintaining our ethnic (which is synonymous with religious in Middle Eastern culture) identity amidst persecution. The tattoo carries much symbolism as well as practical purposes. There ink is always blue or green to remember a time when the Arabs used to punish us by making us wear oversized, chain crosses around our necks that left bluish-green bruises, and the tattoo is always done on the wrist because due to the veins, it cannot be removed without killing the person. We do this so that orphaned kids and kids abducted by terrorists will remember their religious and ethnic identity and thus resist conversion. Hence most of us receive this tattoo in infancy although since I was a convert, I didn't get mine until later. Mine is larger than average and has the Greek Christogram as a way of symbolizing pan-Orthodox unity between Copts/Egyptians and Chalcedonians.

          • I've got the Decepticon logo on the back of my neck. My girlfriend at the time got the Autobots on her neck. A week later she went and f*cked some guy at work. Go figure. The bitch. I've also got the 1up mushroom from Mario on my arm and a butterfly on my wrist. There's so many more I want.

            • A bad choice, love them while young. Not so much as an adult. Please think before getting ink.

                  • Haven't gotten any yet. I'm thinking of some RCHP lyrics or maybe some sort of symbol. "Let me live, so when it's time to die; even the Reaper cries. Let me die, so when it's time to live; another sun will rise." Or the recurring symbol from Heroes. Not because of its meaning in the show, but because I have a necklace of it that I originally got as a friendship thing with someone. About a week later we weren't talking, so it represents change and the beauty of friendship.

                    • My best friend died 2 and a half years ago. He always said "one love" instead of "love you" so I got "one love" on the inside of my bicep.

                        • Dragon/wolf wrapped around my upper right arm: to remind of the drive I have inside me and to never stop trying. The wolf is to remind me to also be steady and patient. (Yin and yang) Reaper on left rib with "no fear": a reminder to not be afraid to do something, can't live unless you're willing to take a chance (I also love sky diving, racing, motorcycles, and all the other high adrenaline activities)
