New game mechanic: weapon crafting

This doesn't mean adding weapons so much as it means making your own weapons in the game. Here's what I mean. When you destroy a weapon all you get is some glimmer and weapon parts. That's boring. Not only that but i get excited to find a legendary engram, get a weapon i actually want but find that it has piss poor abilities. What i propose is that when you destroy a weapon you get a specific part of the weapon that (when building your own personal weapon) will influence its stats, abilities, scopes, and appearance. Now if this idea is implemented you could decide whether to choose a certain part to keep while the rest is converted into upgrade parts. Or it could be randomly assigned upon destruction of said weapon which is not preferred. Here's an example: i would want to make an auto rifle with a lightweight close range scope with powerful target acquisition, 2 abilities (final round and glass half full), the frame of a fwc weapon for the appearance, And one part for each stat of the weapon including magazine size. And one part for the attack power. Then go to the gunsmith and create your own personal weapon. Total that would mean you had to destroy 11 good weapons (but not necessarily all auto rifles or even all primary weapons) for this one. Its pretty costly but definately worth it. Why is this important? Because anybody could get any weapon if they wait long enough and not everybody likes the same thing. There's always something disappointing about weapons. This would add massive diversity to the weapons and to the variety of players able to play the way they want to. I appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you for your time.
