I think a lot of you guys give this campaign too much praise. Sure, it develops Chief as a character, and sure it was more complicated, but it did a lot of things wrong. 1. It never properly introduced a lot of the characters, most importantly the Didact. 2. General storytelling was very choppy. There were some big leaps along the campaign, from the Librarians sudden intro, to possibly the most famous Chiefs "nuke survival" in the ending. I know their was a canon explanation, but it wasn't given enough detail for how pivotal of a point that is. 3. Some of the characters were just not like able. At all. Palmer, Glassman, even Halsey in this game turns into a cynical sarcastic chosen one. 4. The plot got to complicated. This would be good, if Halo campaigns were generally complicated stories and that's what people looked forward to. But the fact that so many people were lost in the story telling (and not in the good way) shows 343's both lack of direction, and general assistance to the player. The experience was very jarring for both first time players, and long time veterans. Now, I'm not saying I didn't like Halo 4's campaign, I did. But I think a lot of you ignore it's clear flaws in the hope of believing that 343 didn't screw up in one department.
