Birth of History textures need fixed!
I finally had this ship drop for me with seven minutes left of the last iron banner event. I was utterly disappointed that it still looks broken to me. I was one of the fortunate few to obtain the ship during the beta version of the game, on my very first Iron Banner match! I KNOW what it LOOKED like. It looked like the picture above.The Birth of History of today is a scroungy, broken down looking version of it's Beta ancestor.
I remember how quickly the Aurora Lance (a rare bounty or treasure chest blueprint) was fixed after someone noticed that it was the exact same model as the Valkyrie-O5X (obtained through the collectors and digital editions of the game, so part of what people paid extra for), within the first few weeks of release I believe.
I can't be the only person who has noticed, or cared to point out that the Birth of History ship model looks like an unfinished product. I've created this topic as a related topic to a comment of someone else who believes this matter should be addressed.

Every faction ship released with the Dark Below expansion and the Iron Banner ship appear to all be suffering from missing texture issues. All the faction ships appear to be missing textures on their bottom hulls, and Birth of History is missing its middle section. These are all pretty noticeable coming out of warp to a celestial body or when landing in the tower. The beginning cut scene to the mars exclusion zone mission is another spot they can be easily pointed out. I really want to believe bungie's gonna fix these, but with the small number of people who actually have these ships and the even smaller number voicing complaints I feel the whole thing is gonna get brushed aside for more pressing issues with newer content. I hope I'm proven wrong though.

1 ReplyHello, I don't normally post on the forums but when I spotted your post I knew I just had to. I think I earned my Birth of History Ship during one of the iron banner weeks that took place shortly after the Dark Below DLC landed and initially I was very happy. Then I started to notice the poor mapping. So weird and for a while I thought it was my imagination. However time has moved on and I like all the ships in the House of Wolves and I'm looking forward to those in the Taken King as they are even more detailed and very different from what we know today. I think a good idea would be to see a Birth of History MK II released which carries the Iron Banner insignia . This brings me on to a little question, is the Birth of History supposed to be an iron banner only model or does it drop at any time ?

Agreed - needs to be fixed. It's another (admittedly small) chip away at how I see them viewing the rewards system - they don't really seem to appreciate how these items are rewards for time spent in game. Please keep rewards worth while (including guns here too) else people will stop valuing them. Plus I just really want the ship to look proper!

4 RepliesI miss the iron banner insignia, too. Without it birth of history looks totally normal like the other random strike ships. I hope they will fix it. I like the unique look with the insignias. There is no other ship with an insignia. I think that Bungie has to fix it quickly. A special event item without the special look is really lame.

Came back to Destiny after a break and was a little disappointed that they hadn't fixed the model for this ship yet. Cmon Bungie you've had ages! On the Aurora Lance being the same as the collectors edition ship, I raised that as an issue during the Beta so I couldn't say they fixed that quickly. :(

I've gotten 3 of them and I have to agree, I just wish the model and textures on it worked properly with the current build.
