Deej, hear me! RNG is fine, add a way to redistribute

Coming from both a heavy mmorpg and fps background (played UO and Wow from day 1, played quake 3 team arena on dial up), I would say the RNG is fine in raids and strikes. What's lacking is a distribution system. Take a page from any successful mmorpg, on strikes, weekly and nightfall add a need/greed system for rolling on loot. In raids, add the same as well as an option for a loot master who can one time distribute loot gained to those who need it. While we are at it, adding the above as well as a proper LFG system would take this game to the next level. LFG would only be needed for raids and nightfall, keep the weekly and strikes on matchmaking. Edit 1: Feel free to weigh in guys! This is the feedback forum, the more solid this can be made, the higher the probability it can be added. Edit 2: Keep the discussion coming guys! I know we are all frustrated, but keep it civil and remember that changes take time. Only those with enough support will get put in.

  • Lol any form of trading would cut play time--I love the idea of being able to trade the vex you already have gotten 6 times to someone who really wants it, while they can give you their vision of confluence you haven't gotten yet, buuut it's not going to happen, as then you get all the loot quicker...lessens playtime, lessens bungievisions numbers, not gonna happen. The real problem is there isn't enough loot in this game to make a trading system--if they did everyone would have every item in a matter of weeks, and their numbers would be dead. Whereas if there were so many variations on items and so many items in general it'd be impossible to get them all, it might actually be viable. I do hear about a reef social space coming with HOW, maybe some sort of LFG system in there?

    • While we are at it, it's the simple things bungie needs to start with: MORE TO DO: up the difficulty of VoG and stats on drops from that raid and do same again for both VoG and CE whenever HoW happens. The basic story missions have as many as 6 tiers, how hard can it be to up the raids??? add higher level strike list with random modifier call it a dragon strike or something! Make nightfall and weekly different strikes!!! Have a weekly nightfall raid. Open up all pvp game types and locations to always available. Have iron banner be every third week, and queens wrath the week after and a cooldown week. 3x as many new different bounties. Raid bounties/missions too. We have that big 'missions' section., PUT IT TO USE. MORE TO HAVE: except exotics, open up all weapons and armor to be progressively legendary upgradeable. Even to top tier legendary stats by breaking down a top tier raid item to transfer light and dmg/def stats. Have gunsmith re-roll perks or the speaker or even a new vendor, Make it expensive and always available. Pages in the vault, like a dozen at least. Have all the vendors rotate old stock and new on same timer as shipwright. Have DO/FWC/NM accept both currencies and sell shaders/ships at higher ranks. Make ships and shaders have some glimmer value on discard.

      • I wish the raid weapons had a npc to trade them with. 39 times I have dropped Templar and no fatebringer. Maybe 9-10 found verdict and prae revenge. Wish could trade for a fatebringer.

Nice, I made a similar suggestion post on group loot with rolls. I suggested group loot in clan raids. That would get rid of some issues of random groups with jerks who roll need on everything and also the random master looter who at the end would take everything to be a jerk. At the same time creating a reason to use a clan. Then a clan reputation system so that you had to be a certain clan rep to use the group loot system to avoid selling runs.

This isn't a bad idea, I just feel like the loot and classes aren't set up right to support this system. If there wasn't just one set of end game armor, and this game had the loot inventory size of WoW, then it would work perfectly, but it just wouldn't work in Destiny. Especially since our level is determined by our gear, not exp. In typical MMOs you fight a boss and he drops one set of loot, then everyone needs/greeds/passes. In Destiny, everyone gets their own drop from every boss. Using this suggested system with Destiny's RNG would end up making people need or greed on a bunch of shards and energies. While it would prevent people from getting duplicates, it would also hinder some from getting what they actually need, making the grind worse than it already is. IMO, they just need to scrap the light level system, put in 5x the amount of weapons and armor, and adapt stricter RPG roles to each class. If this was to happen, then your suggested system would be welcomed if not necessary. But with Destiny how it is, it would only make leveling up take longer, and we'd see even more people whining about the rewards they get. They do need to add a system for LFG, though. I'll never understand why they push for people to use the forums or other third-party sites to find a group, but continue to believe that an in-game system wouldn't work. Edit: I believe it was already mentioned, but a trade system put in place at each loot point would be perfect for Destiny. Friend A gets gauntlets but needs a chest. Friend B gets a chest but needs gauntlets. A trading system like this would be the best option, in my opinion.

            • I don't care for a loot master dictating who gets what. I'd take the option to trade rewards from the mission summary screen before going to orbit.

                • I agree with this. But I would also prefer more exotic bounties for the exotic weapons. I don't really like RNG overall but if we are to be stuck with this system I do feel it should be much more refined.

                • RNG sucks, and this suggestion sucks even more I think. mmorpgs have disgraceful loot systems and should not be copied. I certainly wouldn't enjoy bargaining with people online for video game guns.

                  • Let me start with.....Intellivision & Colecovision were my first consoles. 20+ year vet of the very first gaming MMORPG: Ultima/Ultima Online/ Ultima- Lords of Ultima/Ultima Forever (IPad/IPhone) If they wanted a "next level" game it would be so. It's painfully obvious that they are struggling to keep this a viable game at this point. When I think about the pre release screeners and cut scenes I realize something went horribly wrong prior to release, so much so that it crippled & fragmented the entire games overlying story and features. Not that I don't fully agree with you, I just feel Bungie has had an enormous amount of time to do what's right yet they refuse to fix or add content....blatantly I might add. So again, while I fully agree with you I have little to no hope or expectation of a true community pleasing fix, content addition, or story line ever coming to fruition. Games aren't about entertainment any longer, they're about less for more. PvE's are becoming shorter (what we actually pay for) and PvP is the true intent as seen with CoD over the last 12 years. After I'm burned out on HoW I'll be done for these exact reasons.

Do something, according to my Grimoire I have completed VOG 46 times and Crota 30, also do Nightfalls weekly. Still no Gjallahorn. It ain't right. Don't pay attention to my hours played, this is my third set of characters.
