And no one is around, does he/she spawn orbs?

Yes, because the game says you spawn orbs even when no one is your fireteam.

If a guy solos the nightfall and gets 6 energy, will anyone be around to hear his rage?

Yes you will because they will see the wave of burning trees coming there way
