Crota Hardmode Question

Just a simple question. On crota hard mode, do you have to hit him 4 times in order to kill him? and if not, do you have to down him 3 times with 3 hits each? And also, is it possible to get 5 hits. I was just in a game with some guy who was claiming he could get 10 hits easy, Each time he did 5 hits and I didnt see crota's health drop. even when he did 4 hits I didnt see it drop. A full answer would be great :)

  • 3 hits = safe, guaranteed kill 4 hits = possible, ballsy 5 hits = 4 hits + 1 shielded hit = fail Alot of players claim they can do 5 slams, but usually they are hitting crota's shield in which they do no damage. Sometimes, crota can glitch and stay up without a shield because of lag, which is how its possible to get 5 hits. But honestly, i just do 3 hits and go for the forth if i know the timing is perfect. 3,3 3,3 3, enrage, 3 Any combination of slams is fine so long as you dont enrage him early. Some players go for 4 incase they miss and need to make up for it. As for Crota's health not going down. That is usually lag. I have the same problem when a low connection player is running the sword. From a distance, I may see 4 hits, but only 3 connect. Until you see Crota upclose and personal, then you can see the damage that was done.

    • I usually try to go 3-4 on the first sword, just to have one swing cushion if for example the sword is in a tough spot on the second run or whatever makes it take longer. If you can get 13 pre-ogre, as long as you get a reasonable sword bearer for the third, should be a cinch

I always go for the 3-3 for each sword. If something goes wrong and I only get 2, I just make up for it with a fourth slam on the next sword. Going for 4 early can cause to forget and do too much. The fact you can get 4 is just so if you screw up, you can still bring it back. just make sure you get that magic 18 and remember enrage is at 15

its a total of 18 slams to kill him. its 14 slams to make him go engraged. safest route is: 3,3 3,3 ogres 3, enrage, 3 best way is: 4,3 or 3,3 3,3 or 4,3 ogres 2, enrage, 3 or 3, enrage, 2 reason for the best way is if you get a 4 in, then you have room to make up ground incase there is a mistake somewhere during the run. dont do: 4,3 4,3 you'll enrage him before ogres :(

      • You can get 5 hits if you use the mask on my hunter and if you hit him just before the shield is down. You literally have to smash before the shield is depleted so you have to know how fast your team can take it down. To get him before ogres you can do- 5,5 5,5 or 4,4+super 5,5

If your comfortable with this safe method, *1st sword: 1st knee - Rt, Rt, Rt, Rt 2nd knee - Rt, Rt, Rt, Rt *2nd sword: 1st knee - Rt, Rt, Rt 2nd knee - use RT to get crotas health to the Right side of the R in CROTA. *Run to Orgre room bottom right.(top doorways) *Center Crystal room 3rd sword 1st knee Rt, Rt, Rt, 2nd knee RT till he dies.

        • Usually if you get 4 slams and 3 slams in one sword you can do 3 slams and 3 slams to kill him. So if you get 4 slams at least once you can use 3s the rest of the time and kill him
