The "Shift" of Destiny PvE to PvP

This game, while a fiscal success, has been identified by not only a large number of the player base but also industry peers as a dissappointment and the continued bleed out of players confirms that Bungie / Activision has no -blam!-ing clue how to make a PvE game nowadays... I dont know about anyone else, but i for one have seen a decisive shift from a game that was marketed as another epic Bungie PVE game to an Activision CoD type PVP franchise... They have continually destroyed the PvE aspect of weapons with their PvP tweaking, and honestly their PvP is found wanting... The "additions" to the PvE aspect of this game are sorry as hell and the fact that there are bugs that were identified 6-7 months ago still in the game / not fully fixed, only tend to confirm their lost interest in really supporting PvE... I fully expect Destiny to turn into the rinse repeat format of CoD, with PvP being the only reason to play it for about 5 hours, realize its space CoD and then never play it again. I havent played consistantly like i did the first 5 months for about the last 3 weeks... i got the limited edition of the game so i am locked into at least "trying" HoW... Honestly at this point I expect to be hugely dissappointed... Sucks because most who bought it, did so excited for the epic PvE story and gameplay... And please all you -blam!-tard fanboys and "they dont owe you anything" types... REALIZE... they marketed the game a certain way.. they delivered something different.. fine... but at least own up to the shit instead of brushing it off with bullshit posts and a PVP agenda shift.

  • Let's be honest, PvP is way simpler to author and maintain. It's like entertaining a hamster, give him a new cage with a different wheel and it will keep spinning on that thing for months. Completely oblivious and happy. So it's just way easier to add a map and leave people running in circles shooting each other there for months measuring their KDRs as if were dicks, than is to design whole new levels, enemy AI, mechanics, story and so on hoping that people will feel entertained. I have nothing against PvP or it's players, I just don't play it that much because PvP wise Battlefield is a much better game in my opinion. But this insistence on sacrificing PvE stuff for PvP sakes in Destiny does bother me and I strongly believe the two should be separated.
