  • When i posted this topic i never thought for one moment i would get this kind of response so obviously i hit on a promonent topic in the Destiny Community. Ive played this game since it came out as well as the beta and ive never had an exotic engram drop during a mission or while on patrol nor during PVP. Ive gotten exotics from xur and bounties

    • My biggest issue: Getting two energies or shards for a Legendary Engram should never happen. There is not enough variety of loot in general. Faction vendor choices should rotate their perks or at least offer an option for rerolling perks on existing guns. Faction and Crytarch rank up rewards are usually pitiful. Sometimes I wonder if they ran out of guns. I also wonder why in most cases, the chests littered all over the place, seem to look more valuable than the items placed in them.

      • How about the ability to craft weapons and gear? You could base it off the Skyrim system of smithing and enchanting.

        • Here are my two main issues with Destinys loot system: 1. Not enough loot in general 2. You can run a raid 30 times and not get the item drops that you need (crux of crota, vex mythoclast, song of ir yut, etc.) Some one else runs the raid 10 times and they get every single weapon/item with duplicates on top of that.

        • More of the exotics need to be bounties, doing the bounties is actually fun but some of the guns we get out of them are lame. Other exotics should be fixed to specific completions. Nightfall loot should exclude loot from the weekly and daily heroic and have exclusively legandary/exotic weapons and gear. Xur should exclusively be exotic armor weekly and do an exotic weapon a month (or twice a month) that way prices aren't inflated like most people who want stuff sold for 100 coins. And if he stays weekly then currency should be expanded to include vanguard/crucible marks, commendations, strange coins and notes. It would make the strikes useful again and people would actually have an incentive to not leave a strike so easily.

        • More exotics need to be exclusive to certain tasks and not all of them be rng. The there should be more bounties and raid type drops like the vex and necro

        • Ive never been part of a team that does raids or weekly nightfall so i do not know what it feels like to recieve rewards for hard work during raids. Im not in any clan and no one has ever offered to take me through it. I am not the best player in the world but i would love to do a raid or even a nightfall

          • Absolutely broken. I did Crota HM yesterday and got Dragon's Breath twice in one raid. It dropped on the deathsinger and at the end when the team when to orbit. I've already gotten it 2 other times from this raid and had it on the character at the time of it dropping twice. But I can't get a gjally. So, broken is a massive understatement.

            • The problem is not the loot system per se, is the lack of loot. RNG wouldn't be an issue if you had a crap ton of loot like in Diablo. It could drop more often and there could always be slightly better variations.

                I really don't see any reason why it should. My loot rewards seem random enough or at least as random as every other game employing RNG drops that I've played. I tend to question the experience of players that are not satisfied with the current system because it seems as though they are not very familiar with RNG item drops and the like. Hell, some players wish for there to be a distinction between RNG and pRNG when talking about video games. I don't believe that I've ever played a game that used an actual RNG over a pRNG. So the distinction, when discussing video games, seems to be moot. The fact that it is a pRNG rather than a true RNG is why we will sometimes observe patterns. It is even possible to exploit the current system if you can figure out the seed that is used. This RNG exploit was used quite often in Pokémon to obtain Pokémon with more competitive IVs. If other players believe that RNG loot is not appropriate for Destiny, then I would be willing to hear their argument and their proposed replacement system.

              • If it changes either play time needs to be taken into account or just make all exotics acquired from xur purchase with high requirements. 3 months of raids, nightfalls, and weeklies stuff plus a 150 strange coins to get Ghorn, etc. It makes it a pain still but there is work involved unlike the rng lottery. Not every one does each raid on hard, nightfalls, and weekly strike every week. (You don't earn anything given by chance, so this lets you earn an exotic by working for it).

                  No. I have 800 hours invested in this game. I'm on XBox 1 and I'm only missing three exotics: - MIDA -Jelly -Suros If Xur sold these or I was gifted them because too many people moaned I will not be happy. Nothing beats the feeling of watching the thing you've been after for so long [i]eventually[/i] drop (it will). [b][u]Purchasing a Vex Mythoclast will [i]never[/i] feel the same (read: as good) as watching it drop after you've just smashed Atheon to pieces. [/u][/b]

                • No, people are just impatient a do not respect the awesome randomness to this game. I've done almost every nightfall, Atheon, and Crota since the game came out with all my characters and have received every exotic (naturally) with the exception of Red Death. But the hope to get Red Death is what keeps me going. People just watch their friend get a Gjallarhorn and ten complain and complain and complain (primarily to Xùr). Just keep coming back every week and you will get the exotic you want

                • Every week three rolls at Fatebringer, every week nothing. I've heard that Bungie considered (or did make) drops have a relationship with how often you've had a roll on them. This makes perfect sense and REWARDS EFFORT.

                • Legendary Engrams should not turn into shards or energy. Period. Blue gear becoming Motes or Coins, that's great, though. And also... If a Legendary armor Engram drops for a Titan, is turned in, BY A TITAN, the Legendary-tier armor that comes out should NOT be for a different class. That's extra infuriating, because it only says "random class" for the Exotic chance.

                • I've had almost every exotic in my 300 hours of play time. I do feel like there should be more opportunity but what people need to realise is that when the next 2 raids are released there will be at least 9 exotic drop points per week excluding xur. [spoiler]Nightfall - weekly heroic - gorgon chest - Atheon - death singer - Crota - new raid bosses x2[/spoiler] And these can be done on three characters so that will make 18 chances for an exotic drop. You can also do two of them on normal and hard that makes it 20 chances. I understand that people may not be as lucky as me but there is plenty to do and soon enough you won't have time to finish everything before the weekly reset. I don't know if the loot system should be changed but maybe it could trade duplicates for another random exotic drop that could be ascendant materials/ strange coins / exotic shards / exotic weapon / motes of light.

                  • Yes it needs an overhaul. If nightfalls are giving ascendant mats, then shouldn't dlc Nightfalls offer radiant mats? If Eris offers radiants for trading, shouldn't the vanguard offer Haddronic Essence, Plasteel Platic and Sapphire Wire trading? The prosecution has no further questions at this time Your Honor...

                  • System is fine the way it is. Everyone moans that xur. Isn't earning the weapon and that raiding is. Now you're moaning that raiding isn't giving you enough drops.

                  • Make it just smarter, let's say u start the game with a even percent chance of getting any exotic, Suros drops for you and the chance for sure drops by half too, if your unfortunately enough to get another chance will drop again, so at least someday chances for that weapon u search forever will be the highest and it will drop someday. 7 NLB 7 or more Vex 5 Dragons breath 5 Suros Regime 5 Plan C 4 Truth 3 Thunderlord 3 Red Death 2 last word 2 Mida 2 Hard Light 2 Icebreaker 2 Patients and time 2 Crux of Crota 1 Gjallahorn 0 Universal Remote (Xur helped me out here) 0 Hawkmoon 0 Monte Carlo 0 4th Horseman

                  • To be honest I think that Xur (even though has hasn't sold every item) is already a decent balance to RNG. It might be nice to incorporate some sort of a token system for raid only gear as even with the 'smart loot' in TDB there are still many people who are chasing that last piece (or pieces) of loot that elude them. For example: I've gotten about 15 Hunger of Crota's but not one Black Hammer. I think it would be cool to have open world mini-bosses that have set loot tables that include legendary gear much like in the E3 2013 vidoc but it would be more of a flavor aspect than an actual loot balancing thing.

                    • Definitely for ROC strikes. I enjoy running them, but I've never gotten 1 exotic out of them. EVER. Nightfall needs to take away Ascendant materials and replace it with Radiant materials. Exotics need like a 3% increased chance of dropping Take away strange coins from loot table (I can get those on heroic weekly) If anything, decrease the drop rate of armor pieces in the Crota raid. 60% of people WOULD NOT be 32's right now if the drop chance wasn't so high. Since Crotas end is such a simple and short raid, the chance of guns and armor needs to decrease by about 20%. Crux of Crota needs to be decreased now. Everyone and their brother will have necro by the time they decide to buff it. Make exotic chance for Deathsinger a little higher Make legendary drops in Crucible higher Make Xur carry heavy every flipping week

                      • I loved destiny at the beginning however the longer i played it the more i wanted to play games like Borderlands 2 and Diablo 3. Both have loot systems that went through massive changes over the past couple years, and im willing to argue that they have some of the best player rewards systems ever made. Just imagine if Bungie finally realized that if they made the loot system like Diablo 3, people might be more happy? Like whats the big deal of people getting a legendary engram drop off of a random enemy in partrol mode? im gonna be honest, considering the entire game is based off of RNG and there is NO way to trade items, it makes the game feel like im getting cheated for time alot. there really is no feeling of satisfaction for EARNING anything. The only time i feel like ive Earned something in Destiny, is when i fully upgrade a legendary or an exotic. Otherwise, i get one legendary for every 2-3 hours of playing the game, sometimes longer. In Diablo 3, i could play for an hour and get upwards of 15 legendaries. When you can get legendaries more frequently, it makes the game more fun and interesting, and also changes it from "Im Just waiting for that next legendary! Its been a while since i got a real reward!" to "Ok So ive gotten Coiled hiss twice already today, but it didnt have the right buffs on it, so im gonna keep doing strikes and hope i get the one that i really want!". Once Bungie realizes that 90% of the replay value of the game is getting cool loot, this game will get 10x better. Till then, we are just going to have to deal with waiting for cool loot.
