I have gotten many vog weapons including 2 fatebringers, I don't use them, don't even give them a chance, yesterday I dismantled a fatebringer and atheons epilogue, when u fight level 22 and up enemies 300 is not as effective as 331, I don't care how good fatebringer is, if I get it i dismantle it. They may be good but they are LIMITED more than u know, hit the link
Edit 1:Proof added
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/tMSu4HW9V7pWpvhiWkbocWA/htmlview
Edit 2: some of u don't seem to understand that I am not saying they are bad, I am saying the 300 limits performance and that is why I don't use them, I have no problem with you using them, for those of u not willing to try to understand the chart, if the fatebringer was 331 it would and 12.6% more damage, that's the difference
Edit3: many of you seem to enjoy calling me a scrub I just wanted you to know that scrub is a word that gamers use to make them feel superior over other gamers
Edit4: stop talking about the crucible, no one gives a -blam!- about it
Edit5: people keep telling me to do my research on how the damage works in this game maybe you should do your research because I already have there is a lot of data out there proving me right that 331 is far more superior than everybody else thinks over 300
Edit6: some are calling me a Christmas noob, this is false, I am actually a day one player
Edit 7: let me repeat this for the 100000 -blam!-in time, the fb and other vog weapons are good weapons I belive that the fb is actually one of the best however the link I posted PROVES that they are limited in what they do against higher level enemies, this is a fact no matter how good there performance is, put it this way, what if the fb was 331, the only thing it would change is the fact that it is a limited weapon and raise damage by 12.6%

Running the Lamps or Omingal and watching those Thraws explode from FireFly or hammering Omingals Shields I disagree with you. Nice effort on your Spread Sheet there, but none the less I've seen with my own eyes the power of the FateBringer 300 or not.
-
Sorry m8. Not everyone is minmaxxing their performance. Even if it "underperforms" a 300 gun is still gonna work as long as the person holding it isn't an idiot.

I'm pretty sure the difference between fatebringer and WoC is like 10 dps which is basically nothing, so yea if it was a 331 attack weapon it would be better but it's still a power house weapon at 300. I was one head shoting almost everything in this weeks nightfall with fb
-
Dude I rock the hell out of the FateBringer and I have HELLA weapons to choose from and it rocks the hell out of any enemy lvl 33,35, 37 it don't matter the fate will rock you!!! Haha..
-
Lol this post is awful
-
Fate crits a level 33 with same damage as it would a level 26. No damage reduction for higher level enemies. 1505 crit and word hits at 1540. Fate is better than word overall

Edited by X CARLO GUTI X: 3/4/2015 4:22:49 PMThis thread is really stupid. First off, OP doesn't understand shit. OP don't understand the fact that a weapon also has singular perks that make them beasts. Example Fatebringer...I've gotten 7 words of crota and it's a really good weapon and even though it makes a slightly more damage being 331 I would go with Fatebringer all the way. One single critical shot from Fatebringer kills easily 5 enemies at once. Word of crota doesn't do that not even joking. So what weapon is more efficient? OP only cares about base damage which is irrelevant in many cases and it's just stupid to judge off a weapon just because it's 300 damage. I can run Hard Crota with 300 weapons only and still I would kick more hive ass than OP could in hard crota...lol. Many of us can challenge you OP. You go with 331 weapons only and we go with 300 weapons only. I guarantee you we would get more kills than you. It's also about skills too and you're forgetting that. Just to give another example, people use rockets against crota because is less of a hassle and more time efficient, but the truth is you can bring crota to his knee by all 5 teammates shooting with their primary just a few seconds later than with rockets...you don't necessarily need more damage weapons to perform great. You and your analysis and thread are stupid. Sorry but it's true. The spreadsheet is ok and i congratulate you for doing it, but again it's irrelevant. I rather use Fatebringer over crota even though word does a miserable 12.6% more damage...12.6%...hahaha...what a joke! BTW get the dumb f*cking idea out of your singular brain that 300 base damage weapons are limited because they're not you dumb dumb...lol.
-
I think you are exactly right. Good work on the proof, BTW.
-
The only thing that gives me hope is the fact Bungie acknowledges that they made a mistake making old raid stuff irrelevant. Maybe they'll make them upgradable at some point. Unlikely I know. Not out of the realm of possibility.

The fate bringer and Supremacy still one shot in a nightfall. (2 if you have a body shot in there) I can't see anything better than a one shot.....in a nightfall..... sooooo....... I see the numbers you've provided but sometimes numbers are just numbers and don't speak to the actual performance. We all have our own preferences.
-
Yes the exact same gun at 331 is better than 300. But I'd rather weild a 300 Fatebringer than most other handcannons. If given the choice.

Thats cute kid
I already have there is a lot of data out there proving me right that 331 is far more superior than everybody else thinks over 300
But your data does not back up this statement...to say 331 is far superior is an exaggeration. 331 is slightly superior in damage production. 12.6% is a slight damage upgrade. Word of Crota only doing on average 35 pts of more damage than Fatebringer is laughably small and completely insignificant . FB has more impact. WoC is better against Hive Majors, but that is it. That is hardly making your case for a 331 weapon to be far more superior. Actually it doesn't help your statement at all. Even comparing the same weapons, that 12.6% difference is negligible. I did this testing extensively as well. As your data and my data both agree, light level matters more. A level 32 guardian with a 300 weapon will still do more damage against a level 33 enemy than a level 30 or level 31 guardian can do with a 331 weapon. Light level is more important in the long run than the attack rating of a weapon. And the impact level of each weapon is more important than its attack rating. Obviously if you have two versions of the same weapon it makes no sense to not breakdown the 300 level weapon. Breaking down a Fatebringer for a Word of Crota, makes no sense to me at all.

Edited by royriggity: 3/4/2015 8:26:26 PMYou never used them before the dlc? I sure did! Now I just save them in my vault hoping that those leaked reforging images are real. Also I still use them for oracles over anything else.
-
Just ignore the immature mate, they ain't worth your time. You are factually right and the evidence does support you on this one. There is enough evidence in the description of the upgrade as far as I see it: Allows this weapon to deal more damage; uh, hello people? It says it in the description XD Even the numbers. 300 or 331?....... 331 is probably most reliable

Christmas noob. I dismantle word of crota. Fatebringer is far more superior. I do not care about the 100 damage drop off on 28+ enemies. As long as i am getting crits, it is going down.
-
The use of "u" instead of "you" made this unreadable for me. Tl; dr please?
-
But using a weapon is about way more than raw damage, if that was the case why wouldn't we all be using shotguns? To use on 300 weapon you referenced: Fatebringer is a great weapon (which I know you stated as well) and YES it does do less Damage Per Shot than a similar 331 Handcannon but its the fringe benefits of the weapon; You can shoot it quick and accurately (possibly from so much practice with it) One of the VERY few Primaries with Elemental damage (aka Cap'n Killer) Perks that are truly wonderful and work in harmony better than any other handcannon roll I have gotten Now its true that a 331 deals more raw damage, but if you account for reload times, missed shots, versatility, I would imagine that after brass tax they would shake out about even in the hands of a fully capable Guardian
-
300 weapons CAN be limited depending on perks but not as much as you think. Currently, you can clear all content of Destiny (PvE wise) with 300 weapons. Once it becomes impossible to finish content with 300 weapons is when they should be considered "limited" (possibly in HoW).
-
Obvious is obvious. But hey, it's cool if you think it's all about a number. We know better.
-
VOG weapons have oracle disrupters. The VOG also has a damage cap of 300. So logic would follow that a 331 weapon does less damage to oracles than a 300 VOG weapon. But it's up to playing style, your choice. I always fun oracle disrupter weapons.

This guy gets it
-
I use VoC in the VoG raid. Anything above level 300 has no effect in VoG.

Fatebringer with firefly = best for Abyss
