Can players be "locked" into a specific loot table?
Since I started running HM VoG a few dozen times, I've only seen 1 or 2 weapons drop, which is fine. What's strange is that I get the exact same thing every single run with only 2 exceptions.

Players can say RNG all you like, but when 95% of your runs yield the exact same things over and over again, you gotta wonder if the game tends to lock players into a single set of items, and eschews the rest.
Does anyone else experience this?

1 ReplyThere's 2 different kind of RNG systems in Place. The "System RNG" which is more referred to as the Master RNG. Then you have the Game RNG. The Master RNG dictates EVERYTHING that has to do with "Randomly getting stuff" when you complete stuff. This is what controlls the Game RNG and every Loot Table associated with it. Once you turn on your Game System the Master RNG is automatically formed and so is the Game RNG. Master RNG can be reset by simply resetting the system. Game RNG is determined after loading the Game, but cannot be reset unless you restart the game. So maybe everyones crap luck with stuff has to do with crappy Master RNG's. Think About It.

Yes. I always mention this but their is always that guy in the party that swears by RNG as if RllahNG really exists. Pretty funny. No matter how good at programming you are, there is an algorithm for [i]everything.[/i]

Raided since October and only received my first raid ship in December, after the DLC was released. Still don't have a crota's end raid ship. Not mad, I just think it's very odd.

My RNG drops 4 Gjallarhorns 3 icebreaker 3 Crux 5 NLB 4 Hard light 3 Suros I've never seen red death, Mida, or thunderlord People complain about how much Mida drops, but I can't get my hands on one.

I found after getting over 30+ Epilogues,VOC Chatterwhites and Sparrows when running my goto VOG set up, changing it up netted me some different gear... You should try it next time through, I have also noticed complete raids as opposed to checkpoint typically nets me better gear but all of this could just be coincidence...or is it??? I have Mutiples of all the "hard to get" items in VOG btw. Edit: Tested on Atheon Cp hard last night: Used my original "goto" VOG setup and... Result VOC, Epilogue, Sparrow and Energy. Same Shader: Same Weapon loadout and gear as past runs. I will test again on 2 more runs tonight.

I wrote about it today too https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/106280469/0/0/1 I'm very frustrated on the fact that after 30 completions of Crotas raid where at least 70% have been on Normal mode I get the same reward over and over again. Regardless of an RNG system, this is almost factually impossible. I've done everything from logging in and out, staying in the same session and using three different characters over different days and the result tends to be always the same, the Song of Ir Yut plus some shards. Sometimes I basically get nothing or a helmet but how could it be that I don't get any other weapon? (it's not like there are no options, Rocket, Shotgun, Sniper, Fusion Rifle) I know this will probably will go unanswered by Bungie but I'd love to hear your point of view on this. So to recap, if you consider that I have 1/6 chances to get loot (1 from 6 guardians) and once I can get loot I can have a chance to get an exotic weapon, shaders, spaceship, sparrow, armor, and weapons: 1. Armor - Helmet 2. Shader - Criptographic 3. Shader - Glowhoo 4. Sparrow - Graverobber 5. Ship - Light in the Abyss 6. Weapon - Rocket - Hunger of Crota 7. Weapon - Fusion Rifle - Light Of the Abyss 8. Weapon - Machine Gun - Song of Ir Yut 9. Weapon - Shotgun - Swordbreaker 10. Weapon - Sniper - Black Hammer 11. Exotic item Note: I'm not counting shards or energies since everyone seems to get this by default. So lets make this easy. Every week I have 1 in 11 chances (considering the exotic items are just taken as items in the equation and not an exceptional drop) that means that I have 9% chances to equally getting any of these items. So if we consider 30 Raid runs, where 20 have been done in normal and at least the item has dropped for me 50%-60% of the times. Is it logical that I only get the same item over and over again. The answer is that although is not impossible it also proves there's something extremely wrong with the RNG loot tables or that there are predefined loot tables that a player can be stuck on.

I think its Grand Theft Auto RNG. When something comes around, it will come around more often than before. Like an Infernus.

2 RepliesYup..... Bungie needs to fully explain the loot system. It is not RNG the way the players assume it is. Finally, withholding items is a means to keep players on the game but over time it backfires.... Badly. Companies cannot recover from things like this....

Keep doing. It took me forever to get fatebringer, blackhammer, and I still don't have raid helmets on my titan or hunter. But I dont really care at this point. I enjoy pvp more

I feel like for a week or so I got the worst possible drops every time then the last 2 day on my titan I got the best drops every cp on vog and hard crota I got a weapon armor shards and energy and in vog the chest I got an exotic then I do crota same thing every cp and get the word of crota crux energy and shards

Yeah it was really weird that i dropped 8 words of crota and 0 fangs while my friend drops 5+ fangs and no word of crota.

2 RepliesYep Player A gets these guns. Player B gets those guns. Player C gets all guns. Player A gets the guns B needs and B gets what A wants. This keeps each group grinding. Group C gets all the guns to give hope to group A and B that it's possible.

I had the same problem. Ran VoG 10 times, got nothing. [u]nothing[/u] other then shards and energy. As soon as CE came out, I got fate bringer, vex, full raid armor, getting exotic weapons from the chest. So it's all in time, it will change, I don't want any thing from VoG, yet I still get some.

Personally I've felt that the whole "RNG" thing was kind of weird to put in the game in the first place. I think that each player has a loot table of all exotics and they are all categorized randomly based on the drop rate of the item. I think some people have better of getting exotics such as a guy getting vex mythoclast his first run or some people don't have that good of a chance and have done it over 50 times and still nothing.
