Question for Bladedancer Swordbearers
I'm trying to switch to jumping straight up to the middle at Crota instead of going from the right or the left. I've practiced this jump a hundred times and can do it easily without the sword but when it comes to jumping with the sword I'm at maybe a 50% completion rate. Any tips on making this jump? I don't know why it's more difficult doing it with sword. Perhaps the heat of the moment has something to do with it and I maybe over thinking it but is there anything to the mechanics that I should know about?

Practice the jump, and when you have the motion down just pay attention to your Hunter himself, knowing when you're at max height again. It's possible you're messing up because of the pressure, being in third person, or the change to agility using the sword (assuming you have raid boots).

If you call the "drop him" as your feet land on the platform with him (having knelt on the left/right and gone invisible), you get enough time to hit him 4 times with a decent buffer afterwards to blink strike (you need to be hitting him as the rockets hit him, well, as you hear the explosion you are mashing the smash button). With more practice and confidence in your rocketeers you can get 5 hits in, killing Crota in 2 swords! I've seen so many Hunters say "FIRE" when they're still on the left/right rock. They then need to jump up, move to Crota and start hitting him. By the time they get to him, he's already on his knees. So often they get 3 hits in and try to drop - blink strike only to get smashed in the face as the whole process is just too slow.

Higher jump and full agility is the key. When your in the heat of the moment its easy to double tap 'A' straight up. DONT. Make sure to move a bit forward on the first 'A' tap before tapping again. If the first jump is straight up and not slanted forward you won't be able to make it. Although it is a tricky jump it has the advantage of giving you more time if you want to down Crota a third time and also the ability to avoid boomer attention/aggro due to avoiding their line of sight. Also if there are any titans waiting for their bubble to charge, or people emptying their magazine for the heavy ammo glitch then head on down and practice for a few minutes to get into the groove before playing.

4 Repliesi feel you. i like coming from the right, but sometimes that swordbearer goes on an adventure and it just becomes super helpful to come from the middle. there actually is no other option sometimes if he takes a while to die. i actually had to do it on the third sword the other day. i made it that time but i've missed it before as well. it is the heat of the moment. there are two things that make all the difference. for one, don't sprint or double jump onto the rock itself. just casually run and single jump onto it. then from there, also do not sprint. just run and jump, but don't double jump too soon. that is what you're probably doing in the heat of the moment.

There's a high jump option in your tree. Makes it easier.

Edited by Guardian9447: 2/28/2015 9:37:08 AMEquip maximum agility and the higher jump. I always run a primary weapon with +Agility. Seems to help. Also, Holding the jump button down doesn't do anything... just so you know.

You can practice before you activate the crystal, helps a lot. Best thing to do is get the crota CP, and just keep practicing alone till you get confident with it. Best of luck.

1 ReplyYou have to hit the apex of your initial jump then hit A for double jump. As you approach the ledge strife left or right with analog stick and u should make it every time

1 ReplyIt may potentially be the change in perspective throwing you off. Before summoning Crota try practicing using Arc Blade to force the 3rd person perspective.

9 RepliesI thought about doing this same thing but have just settled on going from the right rock at all times. The jump is so inconsistent it's not even funny. The problem is the hunter jump is hit or miss and just barely makes it up there in the first place so I can't rely on that. I'd rather know I'm going to make it every time.
