The One About Personalization and Light Levels
Sooo I just saw a leak of the upcoming House of Wolves armor and I loved them, especially the Hunter helms. I would grind for those stuff. That's where the armor light levels are flawed, I believe. There's so much armor in the game, but they all just go to waste as stepping stones to get raid armor. It leaves so little room for personalization since at the end, you'd want to be in full raid armor to hit the max light level. What if I wanted to enter the Iron Banner in my coolest looking set of armor? Or what if I wanted to enter in full faction armor? Since only raid gear (pretend I don't have IB gear) can get me the maximum advantage for IB, I'm restricted to using that only. Then you'll have everyone in the same armor but in different colors. There's no diversity. Since gameplay relies on having a community of players, I think character personalization should be a big feature. As of now, only our shaders and choice of exotic armor differentiate us from each other.
My suggestion? Make raid armor exactly that. Raid armor. Bring all level 20+ armor to the same light level then just give raid armor perks that greatly increase defense rating in a raid. Raids aren't for everyone and it sucks that we have to do them as well for maximum effectiveness in IB.

This snowflake is feeling like one teeny-tiny particle of a Crota-sized comet sailing through the Destiny solar system and not an epic figure cutting a dashing swath across our far-flung future having earned the Speakers endless gratitude. I have grown to detest looking so much like everyone else and the dirty homeless-person aesthetic of Dark Below adds an exclamation point. More and more. Nothing short of allowing us to weave our own Light levels and x-fer Perk kernels into gear {however it's earned} is going to make this crazy light-level ladder work.

or make the perks modules that can be used on any desired Piece of armor, rather than the pimmelkopf Haube id rather Hood up the combat Knight helmet.

Vanity Slots would be cool, or give All faction rank up packages a chance to drop level 36 light armor so you can customize. not a big chance. also make it reliant on Radiant Shards so the raid stays relevant.

Personally, I find the look of my armor to be more important than the stats they possess therefore I'm only a level 32 when I absolutely need to be. From the very beginning, Bungie has stated that we will become a legend. It's kinda hard to become that when 10,000 other players look just like you. The ability to achieve this is not impossible either. Either they create a vanity customization system which is far more complicated but effective. Or they make it possible for most if not, all gear to have the ability to be upgraded to the highest light level. This would be easier since the mechanics are already there. You would simply bring that piece of gear to Xur with either legendary or exotic currency and glimmer and you can up the level while understanding that you would need to re-level it. P.S. have you noticed that most of the uncommon and rare gear are far more unique than the legendary gear? It makes me sad...
