question on the crux
ok my buddy has been trying to get it for the past couple trys. i got it my fourth run of doing hard crota. i was curious if anyone had the specifics from bungie on how to get it. i don't mean no rumor throwing like "oh you can only get it by doing it without doing normal but jumping straight to hard" or none of that bs. i know the ally nor the pit need to be with you while doing the raid to get it so who's got the legit specifics?

5 RepliesHere is the legit specifics. It's random. If you think there is a trick, then you are insane. Just keep playing. Just what you would do for any other drop in the game.

3 RepliesThere are NO requirements at all. Someone in my group got it last night on his very first hard mode run. No glowhoo on him, no eidolon ally or husk.

1 ReplyIt's random, but I suspect it was glitched WEEK 1. That's where all the myths started because Bungie messed up on its drop rate or loot inclusion.

Beaten hard with 3 characters every week except release week (only 1 character got to do it due to work). Havent recieved the crux as yet! Seen in drop alot , i only want it for the exotic collection! Its rng, dont get me started on bh or hoc

Bungie used the same technique that the state uses on the lottery. You need to be poor. So, in bungie terms you can't have any exotics on your character or vault. Delete them all and boom crux is yours

It's just pure luck. But the drop rate on it seems way lower than for the vex. In 10+ hard completions (lost count), i've seen it drop a grand total of 1 time in our fireteam... for a guy that already has it. So i pretty much gave up on the thing dropping.

Edited by Snoop_TX: 2/26/2015 5:30:47 PMAll you have to have is Glowhoo. It doesn't have to be equipped or even in your inventory. I got mine wearing Thunderdevil and my Glowhoo was on my other Warlock. Edit: My Edion Ally was on my hunter who is level 12 so you don't need to have it in your inventory either. Hell my buddy got it before he even had husk of the pit.

2 RepliesI ran crota on normal with all 3 characters on Tuesday night, then ran Crota on hard with my Warlock last night and got the crux. I was wearing Glowhoo shader and I had the Eidelon Ally in my inventory. It's still random, just like the Mythoclast was.

1 ReplyThere is no trick or gimmick to get it to drop. It's completely random. My group has been clearing it 3 times a week since week one and I'm the only one who had gotten it. Sheer luck.

1 Replythere is no way to manipulate the chances of receiving one. my best guess would be to skip normal and go straight to hard, so that you have 2 available rolls instead of 1, although I don't even think it counts as one of your drops. I got mine last night (without a normal mode kill, so I had 2 rolls available). my drops were glowhoo (3rd hm shader btw), 3 shards, 3 energy, and the crux. that would indicate my 2 rolls netted me shards and energies, and that Crux is just a random get it or not, without being tied to your loot roll. I am speculating on whether it is part of the loot roll or not, there is definitely no way to manipulate drop rate though.

1 Reply13 runs down and still no Crux, I did, however, build a home out of a the Word of Crota for a homeless man... Just this last week I finally scored a Helmet for both my Warlock and Titan! Finally!

It's completely random, it took me around 10 runs of Hard mode to get it, and I didn't even get it on my warlock who had most of the runs in, I got it on my hunter, and my hunter has only finished Hard mode like....5 times maybe??

7 RepliesWhy do people think that there is a specific way to get the crux to drop? It's a random drop, that's it. It's no different than the Vex dropping in the VoG. If you think otherwise, you are either gullible or delusional.

It took me about 3 weeks of beating hard mode 3 times per week (once on each toon). Edited to account for me misreading the OP's statement. Thanks to HellSpawn for noting it.
