Do you use primaries with Oracle disruptor in VOG hard
It just took me an hour and a half to do atheon on hard with a group of guys who ran through CE normal in 29 minutes. The reason why? They weren't getting oracles down fast enough. Mind you everyone in tis group was a 31 or 32. I saw MIDA, Thorns and words of Crota being used on oracles, just to list a few. Do people not realize how important oracle disruptor is?
Thanks for all the replies guys good to see that a lot of people use oracle disruptor primaries. I'll also have to give Super Good Advice a shot as that seems to be a favorite amongst you guys

8 RepliesEdited by Novustratum: 2/25/2015 5:00:45 AMThe problem is that there are some who don't realize that a maxed 300 weapon vs a maxed 331 weapon will do the same exact damage against a level 30 enemy. In the case of oracles, the one with oracle disruptor is going to do more damage due to the perk. You have to look at it like this - the first 2 digits in the attack power is the level you will do the maximum possible damage with that weapon against before taking into account player/enemy level difference. Anything higher than that enemy's level will not yield more damage to it, it just means you're still able to deal the maximum possible weapon damage (which is based off impact for most weapons), hence why a (33)1 without oracle disruptor will not do more damage than a (30)0 with oracle disruptor in VoG. EDIT: After more testing with 300 vs 331 AP weapons with same impact, the difference in damage to normal level 30 enemies at same range is roughly around 200 damage. This is primary weapons. I did not test snipers, MG's, etc. The oracle disruptor perk provides 500 bonus damage so you'd be doing almost 300 more damage against oracles with a 300 AP weapon with perk over a 331 AP weapon without perk.

2 RepliesEdited by JHarv: 2/20/2015 10:33:08 PMmay as well. if you're using a primary on atheon you fail any way. i dont use oracle disruptors though, because i'm either not in the portal, or picking up the relic. in fact, i wish i could just do the relic every time. it's so easy, and people still fail hard at it. people are always like "awww the hobgoblins sniped me" or "nobody helped with the praetorian". you don't need help with either, you just need to not suck. plus i always kill like 1-2 oracles with the relic any way. one gets supered, one usually gets melee mashed, just to help out. no team ever fails when i have the relic. so i stick to that.

I use corrective measure. It destroys them very quickly.

Shooting them by myself the abyss.d and ice.b can take down 4-5 oracles in one clip and 6 icebreaker shots. Any gun with a large clip and leveled is good in my books. Back in the day I used shadow price... Or if your using your hunter, golden gun. Takes down 3-4 oracles depending on if u have the helmet that gives additional golden bullet. I talk with team mates too, when taking down oracles. My buddy would say which oracles their shooting and I would shoot the other. When I'm relic holder, normal have a charge to blast the last oracle or I fly around with the relic to help down the oracles.

CE can be finished a lot faster. I have done the crota cp on normal in 2 swords, which took less than 5 minutes.... VOG needs a good team to complete it.

Edited by Gaz: 2/26/2015 12:22:33 PMYep. Either a maxed AE or VoC. Had two attempts at Atheon on hard last night with separate groups, and left after about 90 minutes wanting to strangle someone. I'm in no way a superstar raider, but i'm definitely not the worst. Some of the consistent -blam!- ups I witnessed last night drained me. I'm usually patient as hell, and undemanding when LFG, but I think I might have to start altering my approach. Last night saw the same person miss the jump to the middle platform 3 runs in a row, and a multitude of Oracle submissions due to people using Thorns, and someone trying to use legendary auto rifle they'd just dropped in the Nightfall. It made me a sad panda. EDIT: After reading some of the comments below. I may start switching up to my Correct Measure for Oracles, although I usually prefer saving my HMG ammo for Times Vengeance.

Don't use primaries , my normal set up now is word of Crota ice breaker and corrective measure . The last one you can destroy all oracles on your own boom boom

VoC is great, but Atheon's Epilouge is the best Primary because of its fire rate. Corrective Measure is extremely effective against oracles.

10 RepliesI don't know why people don't use the vision of confluence ... It clearly says it's an oracle disruptur (extra dmg against oracles) . I think it also does extra damage against the Templar and atheon so I suggest maxing it out

If a group isn't managing to clear oracles I inspect each player. If any more than two people aren't using oracle disruptor primaries/praetorian foil/SGA I just leave. I don't want to waste an hour of my time getting frustrated. I play to have fun. You have the checkpoint now so start your own group on lfg. List that you want people 30+, confident with relic and using oracle disruptor primaries. Will take five minutes to build the group and then you'll beat it first shot. Much better.

I use The Cure. A rocket launcher that has 3 rounds and returns ammo directly to the magazine when missed. It one shots the oracles and has almost infinite ammo against them.
