Why DESTINY 2 Will Be Good

Here's a "little" thread on why Destiny 2 is going to be better than its predecessor. 1. The Standard for Sequels
The standard for sequels is ideally to improve on the game made prior to it. Generally, this means an increase in graphical quality, storyline, mechanics, and to shed more light on the subject the game is based around.
2. Halo is the Standard
As you know, Bungie not only made Destiny, but Halo as well. That was the reason I purchased Destiny (bump if you did too). In reference to reason one, Halo definitely achieved the Standard for Sequels (and by sequels, I mean in order of the date they were created, not in chronological order of the plot). Halo: Combat Evolved was a great game when it came out. Me and all my friends bought it as soon as we could. Halo 2, in my opinion, met the Standard for Sequels. Halo 3 not so much, but Halo: Reach topped them all. Looking at this, Bungie has the ability to go far beyond the Standard for Sequels and can definitely improve on Destiny 2.
3. RPG Noobs
Destiny is Bungie's first RPG, so they didn't know exactly what the ideal for it was or how to make it perfect. Now, Bungie's learned from Destiny and can use the knowledge they've gained to make a better Destiny 2.
4. The Community
YOU are what is going to make Destiny 2 a better game. In fact, me writing this right now will help improve Destiny 2. Every single post that is made goes into making Destiny a good sequel. Take the Ben Obiwan post for example. Though it was not mentioned, much of the things talked about in that post may be incorporated into Destiny 2, though hardly anything, if anything at all, was added to the first.
5. Money
This is the reason sequels are made. If Bungie and Activision want more money from the community, they can't just grab all the mechanics from Destiny, change the story a bit, slap a big "2" on the front and call it a sequel. They've got to introduce some new things in order to keep people playing and buying new games. They've got to have a compelling story like Halo's. They've got to fix broken elements. They've got to listen to the community, hear what they want, and give it to them in a balanced way that won't break the game.
I didn't think this was good enough to go on the list, but here's one more reason: 6. Test Run
Destiny could very easily be a test run for what they need to do in the next game. If the community likes certain elements, they'll keep them. If the community hates them, they'll get rid of and replace them with something they think the community will like.
Well, there's my top five (plus an extra) reasons why Destiny 2 will be a good game. Like, comment, and/or bump if you agree. Take note that any offensive comments will result in a deletion of your comment and a report. Edit: 50 comments! Woop woop! Edit: 100 comments! • I won't be there to see it, OP. By the time Destiny 2 comes out, I'll be deeply lost in The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 4. There won't be any time to squeeze in a sub-standard Bungie game.

      • This Bungie isn't the Bungie who made Halo. This is the money-grubbing, penny pinching, remorseless, and corrupt Bungie that only cares about pleasing their sugar daddy, Activision.

        • I'm here because of Marathon. I largely missed out on Halo. it's not their first attempt at an FPS/RPG, but it certainly is on this scale. Though the team behind Pathways Into Darkness is long gone. I would have to agree that they somehow managed to walk face first into something they didn't understand, DeeJ admitted that he was unfamiliar with terms like "PVE." I know he's the PR guy and not a developer, but it doesn't bode well when your spokesperson doesn't know the lingo of the genre of the game they just made. Well, kinda made... As they sound pretty adamant about it not being a RPG. Anyway, yes I also have a lot of hope for the future. But even Destiny 2 won't be the Halo MMO everyone wanted, but something more in that direction, maybe.

          • I hope you're right because I'm freaking hooked on Destiny. If they manage to sift through the piles of pointless moaning and criticisms, name calling and crap talking and find the real, honest, good, constructive feedback and use it... It'll have great potential. Time shall tell.

          • Most of Bungie's staff went to work at 343 because they still wanted to work on Halo stuff when 343 took over the franchise. So the Bungie that is alive today is definitely not the same one that made Halo. You're basing it off of their name and not the actually staff that worked on it.

            • What destiny 2 needs for me to consider buying it. Not in order of priority. 1. Content. 2. Optional matchmaking for everything. 3. Functional dedicated servers. 4. A logical means for unlocking weapons and armour (rng can do one). 5. No artificial caps on ingame currency. 6. Vault space. 7. Ability to equip exotics in all weapon and armour slots (pve only). 8. Not to hold back ps4 and Xbox 1 by trying to make the same game on last gen consoles. 9. Ability to turn auto aim off. 10. Sparrow races 11. Sparrows with guns.

              • Hopefully destiny was just a launching pad for things to come, this game was probably just a way for people to get into the world and lay out a background.

                • Destiny is already a great game as it is, I've never invested so much time into a game before, yes there's people who bash it but that's just part of the business, the game is alive and doing well and from what it seems it will remain that way for a while to come. It will only get better from here, all Destiny needs is more Destiny as in content and that comes with time.

                • You see what they need is -custom games -trading -slower leveling -more in depth campaign -more use of the ships (maybe ship race?) -challenges -split screen (optional to turn on or off) -more classes (not the one they announced in game informer) -more armor and weapon variations (not just color) -customizable ghosts

                      • Halo is the model. Halo 1 defined the console FPS. Halo 2 defined online matchmaking. Each one building on the concepts of the last and expanding the capabilities of the series. My problem with Destiny - it doesn't define anything. The shared world shooter is a unique concept, but is ultimately limited by previous gen consoles. The framework is there, so if Destiny 2 is next gen exclusive, perhaps we'll have something marvelous on our hands.

                        • The writer from Guild wars 2 is coming to Bungie to make the game story good. Initially to have everything fall in together towards destiny 2.

                        • Post is VOID. The fact you are linking this BUNGIE to HALOs Bungie is a joke in itself. Never been a Halo fan. Yet Halo had a story!!! The fact Bungie sees clowns like you already looking forward to DESTINY 2 just validates them not carrying about this one. Also a 10 year plan is easy if you keep remaking the same game. Look at CoD. It has lasted well over 10 years.

                        • You can say what you want, and use examples to back up your hypothesis but the fact remains you're borderline crazy if you think bungie will pull anything better out for "destiny 2" They would need to give it AN EXTREME overhaul in Destiny 2 for me to even consider it and even then I won't be pre ordering it. And not even stopping there. Bungie needs to change their whole attitude of being disconnected with the community and stop thinking their substandard punch on the arm it's alright weekly updates. Look at the Halo games anything after the first halo was just a spiral downhill and mediocre at best. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the halo games, but the lore, the back story, the novels in more fascinated and look forward to reading more and In fact the main reason why I still enjoy halo today. Destiny should've been truly amazing! But it fell so short of even getting past the starting line. The only thing I have good to say about destiny is it's visually stunning (or rather, it was, now I don't notice it) and plays smoothly.
