^^^ Which weapon type do you use the most? A lot of the weapon designs in this game don't make a whole lot of sense. Some guns just don't register well at all in PvE OR PvP. I understand some guns work better in certain areas, but when you have weapon types that just don't work, why have them? So I have some ideas for your guns. You can take this to heart or you can shove it to the side and focus on how to prevent cheeses. I honestly don't care, but I want to see this game become better. I want one of the driving forces in this game (the weapons) to feel a bit better and for them ALL to be viable. And yes these ideas will be filled with nerfs and buffs. So sue me (please don't T.T). Auto Rifles --- These beasts were horrifying at launch. Why use anything else when they were clearly the best to use? High rate of fire, decent stability and a consistent damage output. Since the massive nerf they've been toned down a bit in all areas of the game, and that's good. But there are certain aspects of them or at least certain types of AR's that can be tweaked or completely overhauled. Let's talk about the big one. The high rate of fire, low impact, low stability AR's. SIGH. THESE THINGS. There's a reason most people roll their eyes at Necrochasm. That model of weapon just don't translate well. At all. The low impact punishes the weapons general archetype. If something has low impact then you want to try and hit your target with every single bullet. When it comes to low impact. So why in the world would you have such shit stability? Now I'm not saying make them sniper rifle accurate because we already have a decent high rate of fire AR with surprising stability. Up For Anything is a good example of a good HRoF AR (getting tired of typing this out). So how do we fix this? Simple. Increase the impact to these guns. Not a large amount, just enough to make them just as good as their cousin AR's (low rate of fire, high impact, high stability). And in turn nerf their cousins just a tad. Lower the impact a smidge because they have decent enough range and stability to compensate. The HRoF AR's range and stability sucks and rightly so, but that also means your combat will be done mostly short range. So wouldn't you not want to waste half a clip to down someone? And chances are the persons already blasted your nads off before you can finish the job. Hand Cannons --- These are probably the most well balanced guns in the game. I know some people will probably agree to strongly disagree, but let me put my point out there. Generally HC's have a small clip highest, being around 10 round or so. And with a non exotic it takes maybe 3-4 headshots to down someone. That may seem OP, but I feel most if not all primary weapons should have the capacity to take down at least 2 people per clip. HC's fit this. Yes their impact and range is high, but they have quite the kick to them and a slow fire rate. An AR can unload most of it's clip by the time you've fired your third shot. So typically in a close combat situation, AR's win against HC's which is why they basically have the ability to snipe. Scout Rifles --- I've only just started testing these things out. They seem balanced enough in both PvP and PvE. Capable of downing things like a mini sniper rifle without OHKOing. I don't have much to complain with these really. Another NITC is awesome BTW. I feel there needs to be more Legendaries like this. Pulse Rifles --- Oh lord these poor guns. A far cry from CoD's M16 and Halo's Battle Rifle. If ANY gun DESERVES a buff these weapons NEEEEED it. The exotics do their jobs well enough, but I'm not talking about exotics, I'm talking about the weapon type itself. They take down Dregs, Thrall and Goblins well enough but the higher tier enemies soak up that damage like it tickles them. Now I'm not saying that they should be as strong as hand cannons, god no, but there's no reason a -blam!-ing Knight should start rolling on the floor laughing. PR's are decent enough in PvP, maybe not everyone's go to weapon of choice, but they're OKish. The main focus is PR's blatant crappyness in PvE. They need a substantial boost in impact. Maybe just slightly less than a SR. Everything else about them seems fine to me. The fire rate is fine, the stability is fine, the range is fine, but that impact, ugh. Sniper Rifles --- ... Well... They're snipers... While we're on the topic, however, I would like to throw something out there. Bungie, please give us those big ass maps back. I may have been the only one, but actually quite liked them. Why? I got to level up my damn sniper in Crucible! Snipers are next useless in Crucible as it is. Shotguns --- A good portion of the Bungie community says, "ERMAHGASH SHOTGOONS NEED NERF!" No. Just don't stand in front of one and expect to survive. Fusion Rifles --- When I first started playing Destiny a week after its release I took one look at these things and said, nope. I understand you had to make something with less range than a sniper and less spread than a shotgun. I understand it probably wasn't easy trying to find a real life equivalent so you made your own. Bungie. Don't ever make your own guns. However do I think it needs to be nerfed? Honestly... I don't know. FR's are in some weird space where they are ridiculous and easy to use, but I don't think they should be nerfed. How would you go about nerfing them? I'm asking you, Bungie communty, what's your view on fusion rifles? Machine Guns and Rocket Launchers --- They're fine.

  • The crucible in general is just simply unbalanced *Cough* Hunters *cough* but the real problem is that there are a select few exotics that are outright better than the other guns(All 3 hand cannons, Mythoclast, etc) Simply put: if you dont have these guns, then you generally wont do as good as if you did have these guns. Aren't Exotics supposed to look and sound overpowered, but not actually break the game? PS: I havent experienced the final round bonus damage thing on snipers personally, but it sounds like something that need to be patched ASAP. But knowing bungie they will probably patch it in a few months.

    • Fusion rifles need a larger spread or a reduction in charge time. Pulse rifles need an impact increase and hand canons need a slower fire rate. For all of these, only a mild 10% change, nothing drastic

Auto rifles are fine except for the super high RoF(necrochasm), the AR nerf just accentuated their weaknesses even more. Up for anything /for the people and shadow price/vanquisher are the only sub types there should be now. Hand cannons are perfectly fine in general. Hawkmoon is a little silly, maybe lower the stability a liiiittle bit. Thorn should not have 9 round magazine AND that reload speed, one or the other. Scouts are fine Pulse rifles need a little help. I looooved the old Red Death. Now it's not as good. Shotguns are fine. Snipers are fine. Heavy's are fine. Fusion rifles are dumb and should all be destroyed.

        • Auto's are not bad anymore, the suros can do some cringe worthy things right now but its okay mostly. Hand cannons contain two of the most OP guns in the game. Scout riffles are like right on the cusp but its not really the guns hurting themselves as much as stupid retard game mechanics that effects them that shouldn't. Pulse's are just plain shit. They are effected by the things killing scouts and then some. Shotguns a good portion of them need range nerfs. Not all but a very select few need to be dumb down asap. Fusions are broken because charge time, range/not enough spread. Snipers are bad now because the final round thing. Rockets are okay. LMG are disgustingly over powered. Heavy ammo is broken. Special ammo is broken.

Pulse Rifles need an impact buff, Fusion Rifles need a range nerf (Like shotguns had) and Hand Cannons need a slight range nerf so that they don't destroy Scout Rifles at a distance. ^^^ My wish list.

          • Fusion rifles are fine and fun in PVE but mildly OP in PVP. This could all easily be fixed by increasing charge times by 50%, wouldn't harm PVE in the slightest but would fix crucible spam. Pulse Rifles, don't think anyone will argue that. ARs per what you said. Hand cannons have one problem only, excessive range. TLW is an example of an ok HC but Hawkmoon and various pistols with "Send It" are not. They should be mid range weapons not sniping across whole maps. Rest of the guns are pretty much OK.

            • I think you gloss-over just how far Shotguns can keep their spread tight across a large space. Not standing in front of one is a flip non-answer to a range mechanic that I see needs adjusting. It's what I look for now in those weapons because certain perks often down me.

              • I think that a more pragmatic approach to dealing with Fusion Rifles being slightly OP is to decrease the availability of Special Ammo. Personally, i typically use my primary in PVP, and only go to my Shotgun in close quarter, surprise situations. My primary of choice is the Mida Multi Tool. The current problem isn't so much that Fusion Rifles are overpowered, it's that everyone can roll with a Special Weapon as their primary because the ammo is so abundant. This frustrates players who, like myself, stick with their primary and often times die to a one hit kill, mid range Fusion Rifle hit; all the while scoring multiple headshots/trying to dodge the fusion rifle. Nerf the availability of the ammo before you nerf the weapon.

Fusions need a larger shot spread as the bullets leave the barrel OR a larger/faster damage drop off with range, possibly a bit of both. The main issue with fusions is the can 1 hit KO MUCH further than a shotgun, some of the better ones like a plan C can do it up honest to god midrange distances. They should kill further than a shotty since they have a charge time, but not THAT far away. A slight increase to charge time on some of the fast ones wouldn't be an issue to me either, since many players prefire, which drops their charge time even turther and while it does give you a warning, there is still often little you can do about it lol. I don't think Bungie took people prefiring to about 1/3 the charge time into account much when designing them. Bungie has a tendancy to assume everyone who plays their game is stupid it seems. So more damage drop off at range across the board, more bullet spread at distance across the board and overall firing times increased slightly on some of the quickest ones, not much .2 seconds or so, barely noticeable.

                • Pulse rifles could use larger magazine sizes as well. Since they fire three rounds per burst you eat through ammo quickly. PR magazines really should be in the range of 33 to 60 rounds depending on whether it has a low RoF or high one.
