Exotic vs Legendary
So I'm a Christmas noob who just recently got to level 25 with my warlock. I've been looking at the legendary gear from the vanguards and took a look at the exotic gear from Xur. I noticed while legendary gear has more defensive points over exotic the exotic gear offers more bonuses towards skills and other perks like reload speeds and such. So is it more opinion based which is better or is one better than the other? I'm asking for both PvP and PvE.

1) Welcome to Destiny! Hope you're having fun. 2) Xur's inventory this week is lackluster. Don't judge exotics based off what he's offering. 3) Exotics, in general, are on par with most legendaries. What they offer, though, are unique perks that only that piece of armor/weapon will offer. If you find the right exotic, it will often completely alter your play style around it.

Exotic gear is on average much better than legendary equipment. The problem is that you can only equip one exotic weapon and one exotic armor piece at a time. That's why legendaries are still desirable.

Generally people always have an exotic on them mixed with various legendary gear. Different types of gear also give different defense. Like a head piece would give less defense than a body piece would.
