I live in the countryside, and my internet options are limited. I have a 4G LTE hotspot internet connection that serves it's purpose well enough. Despite having a restrictive NAT Type 3 connection, I have still managed to be able to do online gaming with various games. However, when Destiny first came out I was having real issues with my connection dropping constantly, due to the more intensive nature of Destiny being 'online only'. I eventually accepted that it was just something I would have to deal with. And then, miraculously, my connection issues recently just stopped about a week or so ago. I've been able to play without the connection dropping, and it's great.
Then I looked at my data usage online to make sure I wasn't going over my limit. I was shocked to see that I had suddenly consumed considerably more data then what I'd expected. Now I know that Destiny uses a fair amount of data, but I intentionally monitor my playtime to not consume too much data. I can't figure out why I suddenly have a huge spike in data usage. I haven't downloaded anything extra, or ran any updates. I know what to watch out for with data usage, and I'm really confused about why my data usage has increase so much. Then I realized that the data spike, and my suddenly smooth gaming experience in Destiny, happened around the same time.
So I'm wondering, did something change where if you have a less steady/ideal connection, then you'll consume an excessive amount of extra data in order to somehow compensate? Please help
