This will be extremely long, so bring a pillow and blanket. [Probably important you look here, before or after reading all this: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/68304476/0/0/1 ] Now that I have your attention, this is going to be 100% a rant, solely of my opinion, aimed to all of you people out there who are constantly going on saying "Oh, Destiny has only one Raid", or "Oh, Destiny has only one location per planet" or "Oh, there's no Trading in Destiny" or "Oh, the Beta was horrible, this is not worth my money". For those who said "That's Me" to one of the four aforementioned quotes, My remedy for you is to shut the -blam!- up, and cancel your pre-order. Simple as that. This is not an attack on the entire forum, however. Now for those of you dedicated to stick around and hear out my rant, it will be split into different sections, based on the four aforementioned quotes. As more news comes in that I feel like I need to address, I will either post a reply, or edit the OP. Please note, I am just a simple 16 year old boy, who knows just about as much of the game as the next person. All I know is what has been drip fed to us to try and fill that empty hole in our hearts for when the game comes out. NUMBER ONE: Raids This one I have noticed more recently with others. So we have in the past couple weeks been introduced to the raid on Venus, known as 'The Vaults of Glass'. From what we know of Raids so far, it requires you and 5 other friends to join you and complete the raids, on either Normal difficulty or Hard difficulty (For the sake of it, we'll call Normal = Heroic, and Hard = Legendary). We've been told that Raids will take a substantial amount of time, but the rough estimate of time is unknown presently, but (from my own assumptions) I would estimate that it could be either take roughly the same amount of time and effort as the three hardest Vidmaster Challenges of Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST (of which being Annual, Deja Vu and Endure) or longer/harder. Keep in mind, I'm talking about playing on HEROIC, which everyone (I assume) will most likely try out first before they jump into Legendary. That being said, Bungie have stated themselves that (and I'm paraphrasing a bit here) you will enter Raids with weapons not suited to beat them, but walk out with the weapons you would have needed; i.e. You're weaker then when you leave. The best weapons come from Raids, SO WE CAN ASSUME. Let's put this into a bit of perspective. Say the Black Market dealer Xur, an Agent of the Nine, didn't sell the Exotic weapons, and there was no other way of earning them, OTHER than completing Raids. You, essentially, would be entering with Legendary weapons and armour, and leaving with Exotic Loot. Now, when you look at it like that, I've seen some Legendary Beta gear reaching Damages of around 300 (Which was most likely a Placeholder, but I'm not too sure), and the highest weapons we could attain would only do 65 Damage from memory. You would be leaving with the best gear in the ENTIRE GAME, all for completing a Raid. Now, completing a Raid, that brings us into a different point entirely. We know that Raids WILL NOT house multiplayer, and you will require to play with yourself, and 5 more friends. Why do we need that many close people to do one mission in the game? Because it's MOTHER -blam!-ING HARD and you're going to want people you can TRUST, RELY ON, AND WHO AREN'T COMPLETE AND TOTAL NOOBS. For -blam!- sakes, they've implemented a CHECKPOINT SYSTEM into the raids! There is no other gametype in ALL OF DESTINY that houses a checkpoint system (Dying and respawning in other games is completely different, and (although similar) dying and respawning in a Darkness Zone is NOT THE SAME). These checkpoints do not last for 24 hours, meaning that they have a set cap before they disappear, meaning you have to be dedicated as -blam!- to complete it. Remember doing Deja Vu, Annual or Endure back in the day? Remember how god damn hard they were? How much time and effort were put into getting those achievements? Hell, I haven't even unlocked Endure yet, and I can tell you, just trying to is MOTHER-blam!-ING HARD. Not let's think about this. There is only one Raid AT LAUNCH, which means at 12am on September 9th, no matter where you live in the world, on the day of release, there will only be one raid. So, what do we know about this raid? Literally, everything I have said above is just about all we know. We have seen ABSOLUTELY NO FOOTAGE about it, Other than the Guardians walking through the vault door. You know what that means? WE ESSENTIALLY KNOW NOTHING!!!! Bungie has been known for giving out free things, such as DLC. Anyone remember the free Cold Storage map? I do. And I enjoyed that map. Bungie has already announced that there are 2 EXPANSIONS ON THE WAY, one of which comes out in December, The Dark Below. Do we know what's in the Expansions? New content. New weapons. New locations. SO WE'VE HEARD. No content has been 100% Confirmed, and Bungie never stated that there will only be 2 expansions. Halo Reach had 3 in total, Halo 3 had 4 (Not including Cold Storage). Destiny 1 has to survive until the next Destiny game is released in 2016, or when we're treated to the highly unknown Comet game (the tie in to Destiny that releases within 12 months of every subsequent Destiny release). So you know what? I'm fine with there only being one raid on Day one. Hell, I probably won't be strong enough to tackle it until The Dark Below is released, because I probably won't get strong enough, so I'll be happy if there is another raid with the first expansion. "But I don't want to fork out more money for the DLC or the Season Pass" I hear you say? Then don't fork it out. Be happy with what you have, and stop being the whiny bitch who always wants more. "-blam!- that, Destiny only has one Raid? What a load of shit" I hear you say? I have one this to say to you. Cancel your pre-order, Shut the -blam!- up, and get out of here, you ungrateful little -blam!-ing prick. I trust Bungie. I've been a member on Bungie.net for 4 years, I've played all the Halo Games, I've played the Marathon games, I played Crimson Pirates. And you know what? All of those games were master pieces, to the point where I even, to this day, go back and play them all, even to the point where I'm playing Marathon, a game released 20 years ago. I wasn't even born in that time, and I still love it. If Bungie believes that one raid is all they need, then one raid is all they need. I trust Bungie with the game that they're making. I have, and I always will. So if you're still complaining about there being one raid, shut the -blam!- up. You haven't even experienced it yet to have ANY REASONABLE OPINION on the subject. So shut up, cancel you pre-order, and go away. Or, if you're dedicated enough, wait till September 9th, then form an educated opinion about it. End of discussion. NUMBER TWO: Locations So I, along with around 7 million other players spanning the four consoles, played the Destiny Beta. By the end, I clocked in around 10 hours and 50 minutes. And even at the end of the beta, I was discovering new locations. Unfortunately, I never went to the moon, and I'm really kicking myself for not waking up early enough, because I wanted to experience it. So you are reading this because I've heard people around the B.net forums complaining about how there is only one location per planet. WHOOPDY--blam!-ING-DO Did you know that there are around 6+ planets to choose from, and explore? I bet you didn't. Now that may seem like a small number, but did you remember how big Old Russia was in the Beta? It didn't feel all that massive, did it, because there were locked doors leading to new locations, and those big, bad, really hard to beat level [??] enemies to beat? I know, they were -blam!-ing har-OH WAIT. THOSE WERE THERE TO STOP ME SEEING THE ENTIRETY OF OLD RUSSIA. And you know why they did that? BECAUSE IT WAS A BETA, a slice of the full game. I loved the beta so much that it left a hole in my heart after it closed, a hunger needed to be filled by, and only by, playing the game itself. The story, oh the story. Bungie are masters when it comes to story telling, we've seen it time and time again in the Halo Franchise, They are one of the best story tellers that I know of, and they've been awarded for it time and time again. There only being a single location means that the stories are interlocked, and that they are all in the same locations, all relating to each other. Remember when we were first revived and we had to go find a ship? Remember having to go back there to find the Warpdrive? Remember syncing to the vehicle grid for the first time and spawning our sparrows? Remember going into the Satellite array up the hill and fighting the Hive? Discovering that the Warmind Rasputin was still alive, and sending a signal to the Moon? How would we be able to get all that into two or more locations? People would be getting sick of flying all around the Earth, having to remember the route of what essentially could be dozens of maps. • Only reason Location size is a big deal to me is because of how much the game has changed since E3 2013. It used to be a massive expansive world apparently, and then they went and shrunk it down. As someone who favors open world games, this was a bad idea.

      • Me and a a couple friends ended up running trough one of the??? Zones. Lots of space in that hive zone and we die a few times doing it but because of that I know the map of old Russia is bigger that what are complaining about. There's even cool stuff in that area I still don't know the lore behind.

LOCATIONS CONT: Remember memorizing all of the multiplayer maps that the Crucible had to offer? Remember doing that back in the good ol' Halo days? You know why you could do that? Because they were smaller. There is no map that we can look at in Destiny. We jump on our sparrows, drive around and explore. I didn't find all of the Ghosts that were available in the Beta either, with my friends telling where somewhere. I found my way into the Devil's Lair area in the Explore missions, just from doing what the name suggested and explored. I understand how many people are upset, when back at E3, Bungie said that All of what you could see what playable area. But think about how technically challenging what would be? Bungie has a team of over 100 people creating this world, and it's taken since Halo Reach to complete what they've done. If there were really any more maps, do you think they'd be able to store them all into the disks that they have? It would be tedious as -blam!- to switch from disk to disk, changing locations, and it would take up a shit tonne of space on your console to just have it like that. "Oh, but Bungie said there'd be lots and lots of places to go" I hear you say? Well you know what? We've only seen Crucible maps, and have only honestly played, what I think is roughly, maybe 50% of Old Russia, and some of Moon. Don't forget, just like I said in the Raid section, there are two expansion packs confirmed to come out in the next 6 months, with no solid confirmation that they will be the only two to come out. They're adding new areas to explore, new missions to complete, new armour and weapons to find. It adds new content. THERE IS MORE TO COME[./b] Calm down that there isn't a billion billion worlds to travel. This is only Destiny 1. ONE. The 10 year journey hasn't even started yet. The games are going to get bigger, better, and more awesome. "But one location isn't enough" I hear you say? Shut the -blam!- up. Be happy with what there is. You've only played one, maybe two locations. There are at least 5 more to experience before the game ends, so calm your farm. End of discussion. NUMBER THREE: Trading Ok, so in all honesty, this matter hasn't been as ranted (From what I see) as the other two, so this one will be somewhat shorter than the other two. Destiny is known by many as a SOCIAL SHOOTER, an MMO if you will. Being viewed as an MMO, it would be ASSMUMED that it would house the general RPG MMO checklist to settle it in the slot. Dungeons? Check. Raids? Check. Loot Drops? Check. Quests? Check (You could call the Public Events, Bounties and the Beacon Missions quests). Skill Trees? Check. Hundreds of Items? Check. Crafting? Well, sorta check. Trading? Nup. In my opinion, and I can't stress this enough that this is solely my opinion, Destiny isn't built for Trading. Destiny's slogan. What is it? Be Brave, Become Legend. Bungie talked about their Ranking System, saying that it's all uphill until you hit level 20, then it plateaus for the rest of the game. You don't level up, but level out, per-se. The emphasis on leveling out is that Bungie wants you to now go on finding, collecting, and utilizing new and better weapons and armour. They want you to put the time and effort into finding armour and weapons, and then going into the field and having another player say "Whoa, where did you get that armour?" or "Whoa, that's an awesome gun! Where can I find it?" not "Wow, awesome helmet! I'll give you my gun for it!". They want you to experience the satisfaction gained when actually EARNING the weapons and armour, not just mooching off someone else. They want you to use your hard earned Glimmer and Motes of Lite to get your weapons and armour. They want to give a sense of achievement, a reason for the armour and weapons to mean something. They want to add a memory to the items, for example, say I completed The Vault of Glass, and as loot I got the Red Death. When I get the gun from beating the Raid, every time I would look at it, it would make me thing back to the time that I completed the raid with my 5 other friends, and give me the sense of achievement. Now think if you were to have just traded for the Red Death? What would you remember? Not too much. Maybe you'd remember the awesome chest piece with the wolf head that the Hunter who gave you the gun was wearing. Man, would you love one of those chests. The team at Bungie want you to experience things for yourself, they want you to feel the emotion that is attached to actually earning something. I was asked last week what my most memorable gaming moment was. It was the time I earned the Vidmaster Achievement Deja Vu, in Halo 3: ODST with my best friends. We played for about two and a half hours, and we loved every minute of it. I look back at that achievement and think "Man, those were good memories". "But I want to get stuff off my friend and give him stuff too" I hear you say? Where's the sense of achievement in that? Earning a gun or armour, then giving it away? All those memories lost. "This is stupid, I want my trading. This game'll be shit without it" I hear you say? Then shut the -blam!- up, and get the hell out. Halo 3 didn't have Armour trading. Remember when you earned your Recon after doing the Vidmaster Challenges? (Prior to 343 giving it out) If you still think that the game is dogshit without it, then you're wasting mine, and everyone's time, so pack you bags, and get out of here. End of Discussion. NUMBER Four: Beta So, this has died down, so I won't go into too much detail. People didn't like the beta? Ok then, I understand that. People don't like the beta because it was short and didn't have much? It's a beta. That is what a beta is. A slice of the game. A Teaser, a Demo in a way. More so to get the game company to understand how the game is working for their players, test the servers, and make sure everything is in check. They generally have open betas so that the community can try the game out before they buy it, see if they like what's coming soon, and make sure that they need to change anything that needs addressing. "The beta was horrible. I'm not buying the game because of it" I hear you say? Well, that's 100% your call. The beta was littered with the message "Pardon our Dust". The beta was NOT the full game, and everything in the beta was subject to change. If you enjoyed the Beta, then keep your pre-order. If you didn't then cancel. But don't jump on the forums and say how much of a horrible beta it was. It was a snippet of the full game. Let's do an exercise. Take a piece of paper. Got it? Now, tear a small corner off, say about a 5 cm by 5cm square. See that small square? Now put it next to the piece of paper. That small square is what you played. The big piece of paper is what you're missing out on. Stop complaining about a Beta of a game that wasn't 100% finished. They even changed it half way through the Beta, hence the two day maintenance. End of discussion. TL;DL Stop your bitching all over the Bungie.net forums saying how Destiny is missing this, or Destiny is missing that. Just cancel your pre-order, pack your bags, and get out, because no one wants to hear your whining. This has been a goboy3133 Public Service Announcement.

            • Thanks for writing this, aside from all the -blam!-ing swearing it was something that we were all thinking but couldn't commit to writing, in impressed at the detail of understanding that you seem to have at what bungie are achieving/going to achieve with this game over the next few years. The will constantly be updating this game to the point DeeJ said there will be something new everyday( whether its anything substantial is unlikely) and i can guarantee that it will be improved constantly, because i too, trust Bungie. Im also impressed of ur understanding at 16, I'm 26 and couldn't have said it better (well... Maybe less abuse). Good post kid, i hope to see you starside, might do the 1 raid with you one day (if we're ever strong enough, ha)

Ok, I guess I need to address myself now, more than other people. I want to apologize for the "Verbal Diarrhea" that I wrote last night. I slept on it and listened to what a lot of you had to see, and I get it. Last night, I was pissed off at the world in general, and it was late, so I wasn't in the best state of mind to really write anything of any intellect. I understand that my overuse of cussing and overall rage that I portrayed in the post was really below me, and I'm sorry about that. I, honestly, would be happy if this entire post got deleted, because I really do regret posting this the way I posted it, and would have rather redone this, but in a more, sort of unbiased manner, without all the immature, name calling, cussing and the works. I also want to apologize for the overall length of the entire post. I wrote this in three hours, and I needed something to vent my rage, and I used the Bungie.net community to do that, and looking back on it, that was a fault on my part; a BIG fault So I honestly want to say, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry to all you guys and girls for putting you through all that. I had a good concept, but my execution was less than acceptable, and poor. -goboy3133 Edit: I wanted to add and mention as well as this was not an attack on the entire Bungie Community, I wrote this rant to address the issue that is flooding out forums of the people who are judging the game, prior to the game even coming out, without any sufficient knowledge to how the game plays out. So I apologies if you took unnecessary offence to my ranting

Everyone acts like they are field experts on a game that isn't even out yet and they see the beta as a demo. That is a mistake.
