Why is there a "console war"
People really need to get a grip on this so called "console war". Bungie is making a great game for BOTH consoles. There are the occasional TIMED exclusives. It's not like they only made the game for PS. Either way, there are exclusive games for both consoles so it goes both ways. Everyone needs to just grow up. I don't want there to be an XBOX community and than a PS community. I want it to be one big gaming community. Thank you.

If Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo had no competition with each other and say only one of these companies owned the gaming industry, then there is no need to excel in the market to become better. There always has to be a console war, but then again all these companies Sony, Microsoft no matter how nice they look and appeal to gamers they are in it to make some money its all about the money.

1 ReplyThe same reason people cheer for a sports team. Or like a certain make of vehicle. Or prefer to live in a specific area of a city. They have invested time or money into it. Video game are generally played by kids. Kids don't take well to thinking they don't have the best thing. That is why these ridiculous arguments break out. The anonymity of the Internet doesn't help either. Even the pussiest of pussy's can be a loudmouth tough guy on the Internet.

1 ReplySome people can only afford one console and therefore down the other so that they can feel more justified in their purchase. Then you always have the PC Mustard Racers that come in and try to down both. Well there's this thing about PC.. I can't sit down on my couch with 3 of my friends and play Halo splitscreen on the flat screen with controllers. I think that's what PC people don't understand about those that buy a console, those that buy a console are looking for the community, memory-making feel. Not the: "I have the better rig" feel.

12 RepliesThere will always be a console war. There is a perfectly good reason for it too. Can you imagine if there was only one community and one gaming console, or just one gaming platform at all. Can you imagine how much that would cost? With companies always trying to out-do each other this forces prices to change constantly and allows the average person to buy said machine and games. When Super Nintendo took the sped ahead of the Sega Megadrive II they started charging a ridiculous amount of money for their games. I remember 'Killer Instinct', when it was released for the SNES. was £80. Most games when they were first released where stupidly over=priced. The Nintendo 64, when it was first brought over to the UK, was sold out of my local shop shop for £1500 and the first Atari Jaguar (which to be honest, could have done a lot better) was sold for £500. All this was done a way back in the early 90's Thank goodness Sony turned up with their Playstation with reasonable prices that people could afford. £200 for their games console and £30 for a game. This made all companies rethink their prices to compete. When the XbOx Original was released it was the same. Sony were slowly putting their prices higher and higher for their games and consoles and the release of the Microsoft machine slowed that pace. Ever since the release of the Atari 2600 companies have been waring to keep business and this keeps the price down for you, the consumer. Without the Console war, which has been going on for a very long time now, we, the consumer, would be screwed. The gaming industry, one of the biggest media industries in the world, would only be for the rich.

It's been happening for years. Sega vs Nintendo. Sinclair Spectrum vs Commodore 64. Atari ST vs Amiga. Suppose it's a bit like supporting a sports team. I love them all and where money allows try to be a hybrid gamer who has all machines so I can play all the exclusives.

If you work for the company its understandable, everyone else whom pledge alliance to a company even if the product is less than are stupid. Everyone high on xbox? ya i had to buy like 4 360's. And wait... you pay more for online services and still make you buy crap you're not going to use like that camera on release day. Performance was never the issue, stupid garbage like what i was explaining is which makes it worse.

2 RepliesI personally believe it's because when people spend large amounts of money on one item when there are competitors to that item, they are insecure about whether they made the right choice and so seek validation by defending their choice to the death. It's particularly prevalent in the PC vs Console argument as the PC 'elitists' have usually spent more than console players and feel the need to justify their decision by constantly hollering about their 'dominance'.

ah, it's simply good old classic tradition in gaming - and you just gotta respect the classics! but don't loose your nerves about any of the cockyness in it - my example: Playstation now obviously rules all known and unknown, possible and impossible worlds - hurrah! lol-PC-pseudo-Master-Race? hah! degenerated to some, in multi-platform releases comparatively per-user less-profitable (lower prices payed vs. larger troubles made...), for success in copy-sales to amazing insignificance shrinked (just one example: GTA5...), underpowered hardware-using (the PC = not the comparatively few High-End-PC's out there, but instead the avarage Gamer-PC that actually stands on the users desks worldwide - a fu**ing piece of garbage!), Retro-Game-Niche-Platform community! and the BoXX'ers? pay more4less? M'kayhh... . like i said, everybody has they're own stance in this classic, varying in intensity - just try to not take the thing as a whole too serious - as most people (like obviously myself) are just waaaay too much dragged to one side in this, to be even just qualified for any credible statement in it :) .
