Hunter Subclass - BladeDancer Analysis

In this video, I breakdown the Hunter's level 15 subclass, BladeDancer and its uses in PVP and PVE. I suggest several strategies that I believe will give the Bungie.net forum community an edge in September.       So I think this will make a nice build. Thanks to [url=http://www.destinytheguide.com/loadout-bladedancer.html]http://www.destinytheguide.com/loadout-bladedancer.html[/url] SUMMARY Supercharge (Binds to L1+R1): Arc Blade: Charge your blade with Arc Light and consume your foes with lightining. Binds to L1 + R1. Grenade (Binds to L1): Arcbolt Grenade: A grenade that chains bolts of lightning to nearby enemies. Binds to L1. [i]-to soften up enemies, I doubt it'll OHK anything[/i] Melee Skill (Binds to R1): Blink Strike: A powerful melee attack with extended range. [i]-cos, stabby[/i] Movement Ability (Binds to X): Double Jump: Jump a second time after leaving the ground. [i]-this will be modified to blink, see below[/i] Traits and modifications (Choose 7): Vanish: Press R2 during Arc Blade to disappear from sight. [i]-sneak, sneak[/i] Backstab: Hitting an enemy from behind with Blink Strike causes significantly more damage. [i]-backstab in BL2 was a very useful tool, maybe enough to OHK in Destiny PvP[/i] Blink: A short distance teleport that replace Double Jump. Binds to X. [i]-cos, "I'm behind you"[/i] Path Forbidden: Training focused on battle recovery and speed. [i]-mobility and survivability[/i] Shadowjack: Increases the duration of invisibility effects. [i]-more sneaking[/i] Way of the Fearless: Training focused on toughness at all costs. [i]-more survivability[/i] Hungering Blade: Kills with Arc Blade and Blink Strike immediately regenerate health. [i]-even more survivability, my Rubi, my Law and Order[/i] ____ [i]I might be overcompensating on the survivability, I don't want to be a glass cannon, but don't want to gimp my damage output too much either[/i] Thoughts?

          • I won't go into hardcore build strategies. I will simply give my brief opinion. The Blade Dancer had been my choice since I played the Beta and read the description of skills. Teleporting jumps, blink strikes, arc blade, invisibility. super agility speed and toughness. YES PLEASE! I really look forward to seeing how this class works come launch.

                            Already stated in different forum threads for my build, but I do not see the harm in putting it in here. For PvE, Rush Assault BladeDancer, focused on pure speed and melee damage output. Grenade choice does not matter, but Arcbolt would be useful for softening groups of enemies up for ArcBlade. Blink Step for Jumping. ArcBlade with Showstopper as its optional ability, for removing those pesky swarms. Blink Strike with Fast Twitch for the melee skill, combined with armor bonuses to lower cooldown times even further, not counting any exotic bonuses. The Passive bonuses are Speed Focused, with an even balance between Armor and Recovery. Fleet Footed as the first player bonus slot, to keep you moving in and out of the action as fast as possible, and keep you evasive. Encore as the second player bonus slot, more kills with ArcBlade, the longer it lasts. Combined with armor bonuses for rapid cooldowns, not counting any exotic bonuses. Lock all of those in, and then add in a Maximum Level MIDA Multitool Exotic Scout Rifle, the bonus being increased movement speed... That is for the an all out melee build. Suggested weapon loadout would be the MIDA Multi Tool Exotic rifle in the Primary Weapon slot, any shotgun or Fusion rifle in the Special Slot, and a Heavy Weapon of your choice. Suggested Armor would have to be using the Exotic Helmet "Mask of the Third Man" which both increases melee attack speed, and Lowers Special attack cost during ArcBlade. The focus should be on finding gear that increases the stats for both Super and Melee Cooldown, and have a bonus to Melee attack speed. In the Beta, most of this appeared to be in Dead Orbit's shop. As for why? Pure Speed and Bladework is my style. I need to know just how well the Cloaking works against enemies before I even bother with a build for it.

                              Nice video! Of course I have to see blink and invisibility before really deciding, but here is my planned build: (First I'll list my selections and then discuss how it all comes together at the end). Arcbolt Grenade- Chains bolts of lightning to nearby enemies. Blink- A short distance teleport that replaces Double Jump. Escape Artist- Hitting an enemy with Blink Strike grants brief invisibility. Path Unknown- Training focused on battle recovery and toughness. Shadowjack- Increase the duration of invisibility effects. Way of the Fearless- Training focused on toughness at all costs. [b]Either Stalker or Hungering Blade, depending on how it is when I get to try it.[/b] [i]Stalker- Gain invisibility after crouching in place for a short time. Hungering Blade- Kills with Arc Blade and Blink Strike immediately regenerate health.[/i] (Most probably Hungering Blade, since Patience and Time seems to grant something similar to Stalker. So here is how I am hoping my build will work: Getting up close to enemies fast, right in the middle of groups. Dropping grenades, and then arc-blading. Blinking or Blink-striking right into the middle will be safer for getting in there than a regular jump, so I chose the blink. Once I am there, and drop a grenade, any survivors will get arc bladed. I could throw a grenade first as well, and then blink to the detonation point to arc blade after that. I didn't go with the increased sprint or slide, I am hoping that blink will make up for that. I went with the increased duration for invisibility because I am hoping that once I am in the middle of a bunch of enemies the grenade will have taken out one or two, and the rest will be low on health, not knowing where I am. After hitting an enemy with blink strike, you become invisible due to Escape Artist. Hopefully it lasts long enough to arc blade. Arc blade will then instantly recover my health when I make a kill, because of Hungering Blade. If I choose Stalker instead of Hungering Blade, instead of hanging around I will blink off to a spot I can crouch, become invisible and wait for health to recover. (This depends on how effective the invisibility is because I also want to have a decent sniper game, and if Patience and Time makes Stalker unnecessary). Choosing Path unknown and Way of the fearless may seem counter-intuitive, but when balanced with the agility boost of illumination, the Hunter becomes well armored and pretty agile. I want the better armor rating because getting in the middle of a bunch of enemies, I want to be able to take a hit or two. Gear in the beta more than made up for a low recovery stat with attribute boosts, and I'm hoping that killing enemies to boost recovery compensates. The ability to blink out of sight or crouch invisibly will also help me get some breathing room to recover. Once I have retreated back out from the swarm, I'll back off further to crouch invisibly (if I go the Stalker route) and use sniping while waiting for abilities to recover until I can blink back in again at the next group. Using all these abilities together in a short period of time will hopefully create a decent amount of orbs for teammates as well. TL;DR- Grenade into a group, Blink-strike into the middle, arc-blade kills, escape, recover while sniping, repeat. This build is highly contingent on a lot of experimenting with the class and abilities, mixing up different attribute bonuses with gear, and generally tweaking things to see if it works out well. I hope it does because t sounds like a fun play style.

                                • Nice video although i think you should maybe show the skill tree like you did and highlight the skill and then when you start talking about it switch to the gameplay so its like a commentary over what your talking about but then again i dont make videos just my opinion

I am really looking forward to this class for PvE as I feel like the ability to kill multiple enemies is more beneficial than the golden gun! Lining up the penetration shot for PvE was difficult at times and I would rather slice and dice my enemies!! Excellent job!

                                                    • Great video. Fantastic breakdown and complimentary game clips, I didn't even notice blink strike was shown before! I don't have any build ATM because I am waiting for different armor bonuses. The biggest trick will be seeing how much of the skill tree you can unlock with combinations.
