Good luck getting answers.
When will the soundtrack be available for purchase, will there be an early release of Music of the Spheres?
This seems like reasonable questions I have tried to get answers to for months... ... ...
I understand it is a touchy subject due to Marty's departure, but some of us would really, really like to know when it will be available for purchase. I want to listen to Destiny as much as I want to play it. My favorite moments in the Beta were all tied to the music's epicness! Marty delivered once more.
I guess no one at Bungie knows. It's a little strange we know of every release for every limited or non limited edition of Destiny, every toy, knickknack and armor, etc.for every platform but can't get an answer on the soundtrack. Gamers can be music lovers as well. What gives?

Edited by OnionRing27: 8/15/2014 1:34:58 PMWell, from comments made by Bungie employees in interviews, it didn't sound like he was a very fun person to work with. Also, if I remember correctly, I believe I heard an interview with him on Emily Reese's Top Score podcast a long time ago and he came off as a huge pretentious asshat who thought too highly of himself. They might have gotten rid of him due to employee complaints. Edit: After re-listening to the Emily Reese Top Score Interview, Wahine is correct in that I was thinking about a different Composer. He does not come off as a Pretentious asshat in the podcast and I was thinking of one of the other hundred or so interviews she has done. He does however admit to being a prima donna at the work place so my speculation still stands.

NEVER has Marty's come off as a a huge pretentious asshat. Having listened again to the interview you mentioned, your memories must have been quite fuzzy around the edges... Feel free to speculate why Marty was fired if that floats your boat, but try doing it without name calling, especially when you've never even met the person and you're basing your assumptions on fuzzy recollections and hearsay. Love, peace and headshots

I have re-listened to the Top score podcast and I have posted an edit on my original post accordingly. I do however feel that your posts and reactions to my previous post were a bit over dramatic and hostile.
I had no intention in discussing the reasons why Marty O'Donnell was fired. We don't know and will probably never know. Your assumptions are out of place. Refrain from making comments that do not bring anything to the table. I rarely call anyone a jerk as I like to respect different opinions but you are acting like one here. Your comment isn't a different opinion, it's just gossip. You reminded me of Winny-Nozy-Suzy talking stink about the pretty girl next door. "That girl is so talented but I hear she's a total jerk, meh meh meh.""
My original post was a personal opinion and a speculation. One where I specifically mentioned, "If I remember correctly" which means I could be wrong. My comment was much more related to the topic at hand then your inflammatory response was and you even went so far as to attack me personally by saying like I'm acting like a jerk and claim that my opinion was gossip. I did not claim to know why Marty was fired I provided my own speculation on the matter. Explain to me how you can rationally flame another user for making a personal speculation and (noted in later posts) for saying he sounded like a pretentious asshat. you are literally doing the same thing against me except mine was a mere speculation and yours was a direct attack. Do you know what it means to be a hypocrite? I clearly like Marty enough that you have made him your avatar, but that doesn't give you the right to flame any user who says anything negative about him. Try to act a little bit more mature... Have fun attacking my memory from almost 3 years ago with a hundred interviews in between and complaining about hearsay when your reply to FingerLickr used quite a bit of it. I usually try to avoid replying to people who flame me but considering that you have actually been somewhat informative with yours I am making an exception. I don't mind replying back with you in the future but turn down the aggression a notch, nobody wants to be civil with someone who turns the hostility up to eleven from the beginning...

Apologies for being on the defensive, but you were acting a little bit like a jerk in your post. We could be name calling or pointing fingers at the other parties involved as well, but I don't think it will bring us any closer to what truly transpired. I love music, all kinds of music, and the Halo franchise was my introduction to video games. Over the years, the Bungie/O'Donnell partnership created some good times and awesome memories for me. Marty and many other Bungie employees developed strong ties with the community (hence my silly emotional response when I see one of them go). So I'm mostly sad, real sad, and that generates frustration deep down because there's nothing we can do about it but move on and wish both parties the best.

someone who turns the hostility up to eleven from the beginning...
Eleven? You don't want to see my five... Seriously though, I don't run around with a flamethrower, heck I rarely even raise my voice. This must have hit me where it was already hurting.
Why? I thought the information that Marty may be a jerk quite enlightening especially talking about the podcast as possible proof. We are talking about Marty's music, why not bring to the table Marty?

Edited by WickedWahine808: 8/15/2014 6:10:19 AM
I thought the information that Marty may be a jerk quite enlightening especially talking about the podcast as possible proof.
Nowhere in the Podcast mentioned by OnionRing27 does he seem remotely close to:
a huge pretentious asshat who thought too highly of himself.
Listen to it for yourself. http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2011/09/06/top-score-martin-odonnell-halo-s2e1 He never put any other composer down, on the contrary, and made fun of himself plenty of times. I've read, watched and listened countless Marty's interviews, he never remotely seemed like pompous asshat. It is sometimes difficult to work with an artist who is a perfectionist, and does not cut corners. There are plenty of vidocs you can google with voice acting recording sessions that included Marty with Jen Taylor, Steve Downes and many others. These are down right hilarious. No one seemed to have a bad time working with Marty. But everyone knew things might not wrap up after the first take. Marty's daughter posted on B.net after he was fired, and from her description, her dad worked very hard at what he did to give players the best possible experience. If you're interested, here is the link, look for Christicake's post (second post) http://static01.bungie.net/en-us/Forum/Post/64427768/0/0 Was Marty difficult to work with? I think he would even agree to that but calling him a pretentious asshat without knowing him or ever meeting him is complete bull. Whatever Marty's work habit were, the results were epic.
