You know... I've always deep down kinda hated the KD ratio. Foolishly I'm occasionally over concerned with it because of how it makes me "look" to other players/friends and in turn it would change the way I would play at times. If I was going negative in a match, I'd try to at least "break even" by the end. Gubzs you've actually found a very decent solution. Instead of being just "concerned" about it... You actually went and thought of how to fix it. Hopefully bungie sees this... And hopefully this could get people playing objective based game modes back onto the objective (and not trying to turn conquest/CTF into TDM) +1 for GSR!

  • The only problem with these is that Destiny's pvp caters to k/d already. In the crucible, kills gained more points than anything else could and it was confirmed that Control in pvp didn't even require taking a single control point to win. The game is so heavily lopsided that fundamental game changes would have to be made to complement your system. Not to mention that nothing can prevent you from having a low ratio, no matter the system, when half your party rage quits (and that happened far too often in the beta)... If bungie fixes the k/d favoritism in the pvp, I'm inclined to agree with your system. Also, it would be nice to see a damage dealt to damage taken ratio as well.

  • The fix you are refering to doesn't fix the fact that the entire control pvp mode is a glorified TDM that doesn't actually have an objective and almost completely depends on K/D to determine the winner. even with your system in place k/d will determine the score in Control ps: k/d and k/a/d is completely inaccurate to begin with. I have had multiple instances where I deal someone most of their health in damage and the duck around a corner or I die before being able to finish the job only for them to get killed before they can regenerate and I don't even get an assist for helping joe shmoe get a free kill. this means anything based on a kill ratio is ultimately flawed as well and the only true way to measure skill is a damage dealt / damage taken ratio and even then your score will fluctuate based on the number of rage quitters on your team. so unless you implement a heavy penalty for quitting a started match, the game scoring will always be inaccurate...

  • The point isn't to make a perfect system, just to make the existing system better. Unfortunately, the multiplayer trailer showed us the game modes and I am very disappointed...there's virtually no objective at all...so at this point this thread has therefore become a nearly moot point. Regardless though, adding score to the equation can't make the number anything but more accurate than it currently is.
