Uhm this is info that was gotten from data mining the beta. Beta builds are usually months old and are lacking stuff that is in the current builds that in-house testers, etc are using. Bungie themselves stated somewhere that the beta build we all played was several months old and not actually the current build they, themselves, were working with. More importantly (and I am surprised nobody else has picked up on this) is that we had about 70% of Old Russia to explore and only 5 story missions. That leaves another 30% of the map left to be opened up and shown. Also, mission 5: The Last Array. We go looking for the Warmind, Ghost confirms that it is Rasputin and he is still up and running. The story missions ended on that note. Obviously, it would be detrimental and silly to leave a plot thread of that significance just hanging with no further fleshing out. Then the first mission on the Moon had absolutely nothing to do with Rasputin. If you can connect the dots, in this case 30% of Old Russia left unexplored and Rasputin introduced and set up to be an important figure/NPC for the Old Russia/Tower/Collapse of the Golden Age and then not followed up on, one realizes that there are at least 2-4 more story missions in Old Russia revolving around Rasputin. That arc was not satisfactorily resolved in any way from the 5 missions we saw in the Beta. Also Rasputin is introduced in the mission: Warmind. Then shown to be active in mission 5: The Last Array. Use some common sense in this regard folks. Why would Bungie set up Rasputin, indicate he is important, a relic from the Golden Age, show that he is alive and kicking and fighting still only to just abandon that plot thread after 2 missions with no resolution very, very early in Destiny's story missions? Answer: Bungie wouldn't do that. They are better story crafters than that. Long story short, don't trust data mined crap from a beta build that was at least 2 months out of date when we played it and was maybe 1/4 (and 1/4 is being fairly generous here) of the actual size of the game in terms of download size. Common sense, logic... use them.

And have you read the digital guardian edition? Cuz I got it and it says "-Digital Download of Destiny -Early access to Vanguard Armory and Player Emblem pre-order bonus -Reservation for two upcoming Destiny Expansions, “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves,” featuring: -Brand new story missions -Cooperative and competitive multiplayer arenas -A wealth of all new weapons, armor, and gear to earn -Collector’s Edition Digital Content: The City has also provided you with a cache of items to start you on your journey, including: -A Unique Ghost Casing -An Exclusive Player Emblem -An Exclusive Player Ship Skin Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map Dust Palace Strike Exclusive Weapons, Ships and Gear " Okay 1) you see how it says reservation for two upcoming Destiny Expansions, does that mean when it comes available do we still have to pay for it or it downloads ? 2) you see how's it says " Exclusive Player Emblem -An Exclusive Player Ship Skin Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map Dust Palace Strike Exclusive Weapons, Ships and Gear" what does that mean exactly ? When it ends do we lose all that exclusive stuffs or this digital guardian edition won't last long ? Idk of I explained my self :/ Basically Does it mean that when the time exclusive ends for ps4 do we lose everything that was exclusive or just that the xboxers will be able to have it as well? Thanks

  • Any exclusive content you don't lose you paid for it and get to keep it. The issue with the PS4 exclusives is that they are timed. Meaning they will be exclusive to PlayStation for a set period of time. In Destiny's case, it's one year. Then xbox users will get access to it. So, it doesn't effect you in any way. The Gamestop page is just letting you know that Destiny will be available to download on 9/9/2014. If it's the expansion pass, you download that, and then the system recognizes you bought the content and when it becomes available the download will start for you on PS4. At least I think that is how PS4 works. I am not sure though as I have an X1.

What got me confuse was that GameStop says on there web page " Pre-order: This item will be available to download on 9/09/2014, 9:00 AM CST " and that's for the expansion pass

  • If Bungie doesn't verify it, don't believe it. They've not given any time line for the release of the planned DLC content yet. They've just confirmed there are 2 DLC's being sold as one Expansion Pass much like a season pass is sold. All it says on this website is that it is "Available for purchase now." There is nothing to indicate when it will become available to us. If I had to guess I'd say the first part of the expansion pass (expansion 1) will go live 2-3 months after launch with expansion 2 going live 2-3 months after that. Sometime in there we'll probably see another Expansion Pass offered for expansions 3-4. Of course that doesn't include any incidental content they add via patches and game updates. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes I do, D3co. Obviously this is my opinion/educated guess based upon what I've extrapolated from the plot thread left hanging in the Old Russia missions. I'd hazard a guess that are about 7 missions also on the moon as well, just from it's size and the start of the story arc we saw from the first moon mission. So if we take my educated guess based upon what's needed to connect the plot from Old Russia to the Moon we'll have something between 7-11 mission in Old Russia itself. It is the bare minimum required for story 2 more involving Rasputin and 1 tying Old Russia to the Moon that would get us 8 missions in Old Russia. Of course this all supposition. The following is just a thought experiment. Let's assume (for this exercise) that the number of exploration areas with story missions is 7 with an average of 7 missions per area. That would give us 49 story missions for the base game at launch. (The above assumption is based upon Bungie's love for the number 7). Again, this was thought experiment and not based upon any insider knowledge. Anything other than my first paragraph and the thought experiment above I am uncomfortable commenting on. Firstly because I don't have all the information/Data needed to form an reasonable hypothesis and secondly, because I don't want to add to the large, and growing, pile of false information about Destiny.

  • Also D3co, take a look at the locations section of the Grimoire. In mine it is showing these areas... Mercury, Earth, The Tower/City, The Moon, Saturn and Jupiter. Mars is not listed, but we know for a fact Mars has story missions, We also know Venus is in too as the Vault of Glass is there. Remove the Tower and we 7 playable areas. Also Bungie has said "All the Playable locations have been revealed." So, we can only, again, conclude the data mine missed a lot of information.

  • Serephims Vault and Kings watch were found in the Beta so that's two more, at least.

  • Great someone else notice Earth's story missions seemed unfinished. I also highly doubt that the vault of glass is the only raid available. Why would they announce the only game mode that requires extreme cooperation and only make one map. Answer: they wouldn't there is probably at least one raid in each planet. Another note in the level 29 titan gameplay you were able to see The Reef as another place to explore and this post forgot to even list it.

  • The reason for them announcing it is to hype the game up most MMO do. Release the game with 1-2 raids.

I didn't mention The Reef as it wasn't pertinent to the point I was trying to convey. Although, The Reef is where the Awoken are located/live so it is to be expected that is a playable area. If you get down to brass tacks the disconnect between what we saw at the end of Mission 5 to the start of the Moon mission is a huge, massive plot hole. So, we can surmise there are at least 2 more missions in Old Russia to settle the Rasputin arc. Then at least one more, with connective cut scenes to set up us going to the moon in search of the missing Guardian and give needed exposition connecting the Hive on earth fighting with the Fallen and us over Rasputin to the Hive on the Moon. The last few sentences are pretty much the bare minimum of story needed to wrap up the Old Russia arc and start us on the path to the moon so that the story isn't a incoherent mess with plot holes everywhere. Secondly, if I can easily demonstrate the plot/story is missing some serious elements needed to make it coherent and workable, the data mined Beta only shows 5 missions in Old Russia, and we know there are areas in Old Russia we haven't explored. Plus 30% of Old Russia was locked off for the Beta AND that Bungie plays things very, very close to the vest prior to the launch of their games -- and they don't leave massive plot holes in their games -- we can accurately conclude a few things: 1.) That the data mined from the Beta is, at best, not indicative of the total amount of story content in the game. 2.) Since we know the size of the Beta was 12.5 Gb and the full game is several orders of a degree larger than 12.5Gb that the data mine only uncovered what was in the Beta build. 3.) The Beta build we played was several months old. Edit: Conclusion: From this we can pretty accurately say that the true size and content of Destiny are still unknown quantities. Further that the data mined information is incomplete at best; at worst it is missing large chunks of content, material and information that is only serving to cause havoc among the community while simultaneously spreading misinformation and false information.

Yes I understand that and what I meant was the list of content D3co made he missed The Reef which was another place we get to explore. I take all information about destiny with a grain of salt. I was not specific enough to stat which post was misinformed. Your post is great and I believe that maybe Bungie might make the missions longer as well, but that is just a thought.

  • I caught your meaning. I just wanted to amplify why I didn't mention The Reef in specific. Gotcha on the missing part of the Reef in relation to the data mine. I also take any information about Destiny not from Bungie, or sourced back to Bungie, with a huge grain of salt. Like big enough to fill the Grand Canyon. Like the size of Mons Olympus on Mars. There is so much misinformation and outright wrong information on Destiny that it's shocking, not that it isn't unexpected though.
